Fantasy Football Wide Receiver & Tight End Start/Sit Week 6: Is Adam Thielen A Must-Start WR?
The importance of knowing who to start and who to sit can make or break a fantasy week and your matchup. People like to say, “Start your studs,” and typically speaking, that is the way to go, especially early in the season, but sometimes a player's matchup gives them more value in a certain week. On the flip side, a player can also have a poor matchup that could give you a reason to bench them.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 6 Starts
Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers @ Miami Dolphins
Thielen has been a very consistent producer in PPR formats over the past four weeks. He has at least seven catches in all four weeks and has two games where he has made 11 catches and topped 100 yards. He has found the end zone in three games this season as well and gets a very good matchup this week vs. a Dolphins defense that has been beaten in the pass game. Also, this game could be a blowout in favor of Miami, which opens up garbage time opportunities for Thielen. Start him with confidence.
Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts
Although Calvin Ridley is considered the top WR in the Jags offense, and statistically he is, Kirk still has a big role and is a favorite target of QB Trevor Lawrence dating back to last season. He should be started in all formats this week as he takes on a Colts defense that ranks 28th in the NFL against the pass. Kirk has at least six catches and 78 yards in three of the past four games, and he found the end zone in the one game he didn’t reach those marks.
Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears
Even though Addison has been inconsistent week to week, he is in a great position in Week 6 to have a monster performance. He takes on a Bears defense that ranks 31st in the NFL against the pass and 30th in points allowed. With Justin Jefferson being placed on IR, Addison’s role in the offense is about to grow big time as well; he could be a matchup winner for you this week, so get him into those lineups!
Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 6 Sits
Robert Woods, Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints
Woods has been seeing targets, at least six in every game this season. The problem is, he hasn’t made more than three catches in a game since Week 2, and it’s because Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Dalton Schultz have emerged as the top pass catchers for QB C.J. Stroud. Taking this a step further, Woods’ matchup this week is a tough one. The Saints rank fourth in the NFL this season against the pass, allowing just 183 passing yards per game.
Marvin Mims, Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs
All the helium surrounding Mims coming into the season seems to have vanished. There’s no doubt that he is explosive and has big-play ability. The problem is that he is not being featured enough in the offense right now. He has more than two catches in a game only once this season, and the one time he scored an offensive TD, it was on a lapse in coverage, a catch that he took 60 yards to the house. You can’t rely on that sort of big play to happen every week, so until Mims shows that he is getting more volume to contribute with some consistency, he is better left on the bench.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 6 Starts
Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders @ Atlanta Falcons
First of all, this matchup is fantastic. The Falcons rank 31st in the NFL against the TE position. The Commanders know this, Sam Howell knows this, and Logan Thomas knows this. Secondly, Thomas finally had a big game, catching nine of 11 targets for 77 yards and a TD last week. He has always had the skill set to succeed, he just hasn’t stayed healthy. He is healthy now and should be in your lineup this week in all league sizes.
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings
QB Justin Fields finally looks good again, the Bears' offense is humming, and Kmet has three TDs over the past two games. He is trustworthy again in fantasy and should be in your lineups this week as he looks to extend his TD streak to three games. The Vikings rank in the bottom third of the league against the pass, and the Bears' pass offense is all D.J. Moore and Cole Kmet at this point.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 6 Sits
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants
He’s dealing with an injury, so clearly, if he misses the game, he’s someone to bench. He is expected to play this weekend, though, and even if he is active, he needs to remain on your bench until further notice. He doesn’t have more than four catches in a game since week two, he has topped 40 yards just once all season, and he still hasn’t scored a TD. If you are going to start any Bills TE, and I don’t recommend it, it should be Dawson Knox.
Durham Smythe, Miami Dolphins vs. Carolina Panthers
He isn’t a big name anyway, but considering he is part of the explosive Dolphins' offense, he is someone that fantasy managers consider in deeper leagues. This week isn’t the week to use him, though, even in a 16-team league. The Panthers rank in the top five in the NFL against the pass and Smythe hasn’t topped four catches or 41 yards since Week 1.
