Ranking the Top 16 Overall Fantasy Football Players (1-10): Bijan Robinson, Breece Hall, Amon-Ra St. Brown and More
Mark's top 16 fantasy football players for 2024 conclude with numbers 1-10.
We are wrapping up my top 16 overall players in fantasy football with the players ranked 10-1. Here's the list of players ranked 11-16. The rankings are based on a .5 PPR scoring system. The reason I went with 16 players is because generally the biggest leagues people play in are 16-team leagues so this should cover the first round for just about everyone.
1. Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons
I have settled in with Robinson as my top player in fantasy drafts this season, slightly ahead of the next two guys on this list. My preferred strategy is to go with stud running back in the first, especially with them becoming scarcer and scarcer in the NFL. A bell-cow RB1 can be one of the biggest advantages you can get in fantasy football.
The deciding factor that puts him above all the other running backs is simply talent and my belief that he is the most talented every-down back in the game today.
2. Breece Hall, New York Jets
Hall is a very close number two, however, he's also closer to being third on this list than first. Another ultra-talented every-down back with a ton of PPR value to help him stack up fantasy points.
Unfortunately, his offensive line will still be subpar with the potential of being terrible and his targets will inevitably drop this season with a quarterback who can complete a pass at least nine yards downfield. Even with his team holding him back, he'll be a superstar.
3. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
The talent and situation for Hill is superb. At the end of the day, his speed is something he brings to the table that no one else can match. No matter who you are, Hill is faster than you and you can't cover him.
His connection with the NFL passing leader Tua Tagovailoa is undeniable and he has one of the most creative young playcallers in the league scheming him up touches. This is your WR1 for 2024.
4. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
Lamb's holdout made me debate dropping him to five, but he's sticking at four for at least a bit longer. He is the Cowboys' offense and they have no choice but to target him at a ridiculous rate. Dak Prescott will have tunnel vision for him and he will probably lead the league in both targets and receptions this season.
5. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers
There are plenty of great things to say about CMC and there is no doubt he has the upside to run away with the RB1 overall scoring again this season. However, since I have him lower than consensus I should explain why he's so low and not so high.
His combination of past workload, expected workload and injury history as an aging running back scares me. When picking this high I want as little risk as possible and I feel he's riskier than most others do.
6. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions
I don't know if it's possible for a player who has already broken out to break out more, but St. Brown is going to move into an elite tier this season. Picking him as the WR1 overall is far from egregious. While he's already looked at as great, after this year he'll be looked at as generational.
7. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts
Taylor in the seventh spot is another polarizing pick for many. The debate I see so often is whether the presence of Anthony Richardson helps or hurts JT. Richardson vulturing TD runs and not dumping off as much are legitimate concerns. However, the attention the defense will have to pay to Richardson on the ground should open up massive lanes for Taylor to gash.
We've seen this play out in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson for years. I also don't believe in Richardson as a passer so this should be a very run-heavy offense.
8. Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals
There isn't much to say about Chase. He's great and he's going to be great. His volume is just slightly lower than some of the guys above him and it landed him here. That doesn't mean he's not one of the best wideouts in the game and an elite fantasy option with WR1 overall upside.
9. Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
I got burned by Wilson last year and I'm ready to be hurt again. While I don't believe in the Jets' offense being anything close to what some others are projecting because the line is still bad and Aaron Rodgers is a shell of his former self, Rodgers is still infinitely better than any quarterback the Jets ran out there last season. They were impossibly bad and even a diminished Rodgers is a massive upgrade.
10. A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
Much like with Chase, there isn't much to say about Brown other than he's a dominant force and he'll continue to dominate this year. His size and strength combined with incredible speed for a man his size make him a nightmare to deal with. His being in the 10 spot is a compliment not a slight.
