Week 10 Fantasy Football Drop Candidates: Gardner Minshew, Devin Singletary, Rome Odunze, Tyler Conklin and More
You can consider dropping these players this week to add players on the waiver wire.
Quarterbacks
Gardner Minshew, Las Vegas Raiders
This obviously is only relevant in deeper Superflex leagues, but Minshew was benched again this week as the Raiders' coaching staff scrambles for answers. They know their jobs are on the line, so they are going to throw everything they can against the wall and hope something sticks.
Minshew is not the problem in Las Vegas, a dysfunctional front office and a poorly constructed roster is. However, he also isn't the answer and they know it. It sounds like Desmond Ridder is going to get a shot, which surely won't turn out to be a disaster.
Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers
It was made clear that Bryce Young was playing for a job in Week 9 and the Panthers won the game. The team is going to want to give Young every opportunity to succeed after drafting him first overall in last year's draft and rightfully so.
When you make an investment like that, you better be sure to fully evaluate the player before throwing in the towel. There is no doubt that Dalton gives them their best shot of winning, however, that isn't necessarily the agenda in Carolina. You won't be able to rely on him getting consistent playing time in your Superflex leagues.
Running Backs
Zack Moss, Cincinnati Bengals
Moss has already lost the RB1 job to Chase Brown in Cincinnati. He then subsequently injured his neck, was ruled out indefinitely and placed on injured reserve, and the team has now traded for Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears. It's over for Moss this season and fantasy owners can now confidently move on from him.
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
Things have soured in Dallas as the team continues to spiral. Zeke was a healthy scratch in Week 9 and didn't even travel with the team due to conduct detrimental to the team. He reportedly didn't show up for a meeting, which was the last straw of what sounds like many previous straws.
This backfield now belongs to Rico Dowdle and Dalvin Cook has jumped Elliott in the pecking order. It is over for Zeke in Dallas and potentially the NFL.
Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns
Ford returned this week and was an afterthought with Nick Chubb back in the lineup. He saw just two carries to Chubb's 15 and was matched by Pierre Strong's two carries.
There was already volatility in Ford's usage and production before his injury and Chubb's return. Now there is no reason to keep clogging up your roster with him.
D'Onta Foreman, Cleveland Browns
Some owners were still holding Foreman with Ford out and Chubb working his way back. This past week he was a healthy scratch. He can now be cut in even the deepest of leagues.
Devin Singletary, New York Giants
Singletary is now a distant RB2 in New York. Tyrone Tracy Jr. now has a stranglehold on that job.
The rookie had 16 carries and one target this week while Singletary was given just seven carries and wasn't targeted in the passing attack. There is no need to hold Singletary any longer as anything more than a handcuff for Tracy.
Wide Receivers
Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fantasy owners shot their shot on the waiver wire with McMillan and missed. It's time to move on. He didn't produce and then got banged up. With Mike Evans likely returning in the coming weeks, there will not be another opportunity to start McMillan. Move on.
Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears
What we all feared has come true in Chicago. There are just too many mouths to feed in Chicago and their rookie quarterback isn't at a level yet where he can sustain multiple fantasy viable pass-catchers.
Of course, you aren't dropping Odunze in dynasty leagues, however, he can be cast off to the waiver wire in redrafts and the other pass-catching options in Chicago may not be far behind. They are all cannibalizing each other in a passing attack that isn't particularly strong to begin with.
Allen Lazard, New York Jets
That flukey Lazard run in New York is officially over. He's hurt and on injured reserve and will be returning to an offense that now has Davante Adams fully integrated into it.
There is no reason to stash him while he's on injured reserve. His early season TD run was always unsustainable and it's become even more unlikely now.
Tight Ends
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
With Adams now on the Jets, Conklin has become an afterthought. There aren't enough balls to go around in an already weak passing attack. If you were relying on him early in the season, it's now time to find a new tight end to plug into your lineup.
