Dynasty Fantasy Football Running Backs to Consider Adding: Trey Benson, MarShawn Lloyd, Blake Corum, Kendre Miller, Isaiah Davis and More

Morgan identifies some dynasty players maybe worth adding as the 2024 NFL season winds down.

The other day, I started a new fantasy football series where I identify some possible dynasty players to add down the stretch of the season.

My thinking is that your dynasty team is no longer competing for a title, or is just seeing some players hit IR, thus opening some roster spots.

We covered quarterbacks in the first story and will move on to running backs here.

Running Backs to Possibly Add

The options for running backs, wide receivers and tight ends are going to be rostered in more leagues than the quarterbacks were, but I’m here to point out the best options - a lot of them might already be owned though.

Arizona’s Trey Benson, Denver’s Audric Estime, Green Bay’s MarShawn Lloyd, Los Angeles Chargers’ Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Rams’ Blake Corum, Las Vegas’ Dylan Laube, Miami’s Jaylen Wright, New Orleans’ Kendre Miller, New York Jets’ Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are the guys who I want to discuss.

Benson is a guy who I thought maybe would carve out a weekly role with the Cardinals, but James Conner has been the workhorse back and Benson has split the backup work with Emari Demercado.

Conner is 29 years old, and probably only has a couple good seasons left in him. At some point, you’d expect the Cardinals to go younger, and Benson would be the likely benefactor after being a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This Cardinals’ offense is young and should improve and be pretty good in the long run, which makes the team’s top running back a good fantasy option. If Benson is still available in your league, he’s a great add-and-stash dynasty guy.

Estime is a back I had high hopes for. Denver didn’t have a No. 1 RB coming into the season, and still doesn’t, but Estime has been a distant third option behind Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin.

Estime is only 21, while the other two backs are each 24. If the Broncos’ offense continues to rely on its young players, Estime could take over the lead back role in time.

He was a fifth-round pick, so there’s a chance the team continues to draft backs until they hit on a star, but for now, Estime is the best dynasty back on Denver’s roster.

Lloyd has had about as rough a rookie season as a player could think of. He dealt with injuries coming into the season, and has picked up new injuries and ailments during the season. Lloyd has played in just one game.

I thought Lloyd would clearly be the team’s No. 2 back this season, and maybe have a chance to run Josh Jacobs out of town (due to being a cheaper RB), but injuries haven’t afforded him that opportunity.

Lloyd was a third-round pick of the Pack in the most recent draft, and I doubt they will move on from him after just a season. Maybe he can get involved down the stretch and give himself a great shot to be the No. 2 back going into the 2025 season.

Vidal has been stuck behind J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards most of the season. The injury to Dobbins opened an opportunity for the rookie back, but Vidal hasn’t stepped up yet.

He’s shown flashes of maybe being a solid starting back in the future, but it hasn’t been consistent. Vidal was a sixth-round pick this year, so he’ll have to deliver at some point, or the team could just keep trying other young backs until one hits.

I still like the idea of adding Vidal, as Dobbins is injury-prone, and Edwards isn’t an every-down back at this point of his career.

Corum is the Rams’ No. 2 back, but he’s buried way behind Kyren Williams. This was a weird landing spot for Corum, and while he’s a great handcuff option, he hasn’t been given many opportunities this season.

Williams doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere, so Corum might be the No. 2 back for a while. He still should be rostered in case Williams ever were to get hurt, and maybe in time, Corum could carve out a decent offensive role, even with Williams still there.

I thought Laube was a big-time sleeper coming into the season, but even with an injured Las Vegas RB room, he hasn’t earned many chances. He has one touch across six games played.

The reason I mention him is because the Raiders don’t have a running back locked in for the future. Laube was a sixth-round pick, and he could eventually be given a chance to shine.

He’s a longshot, but in a deep dynasty league, I wouldn’t mind stashing Laube.

Wright landed in a tough situation, with a young De'Von Achane leading the RB room and veteran Raheem Mostert still there. Wright has gotten more work as the season has rolled along, but it hasn’t led to much fantasy success.

Wright looks like the No. 2 back of the future, as I think the team will move on from Mostert. Two fantasy backs can shine in this offense, so Wright is someone who could become a decent starting option as early as next season.

If Wright is still available in your dynasty league, I’d definitely add and stash him.

Miller is in his second NFL season, but only has 11 total games in. He’s worked his way into the No. 2 role behind Alvin Kamara, and very well could be the team’s No. 2 back of the future, at the worst.

Kamara is 29 years old, and is a better pass catcher than a ball carrier anyways, so Miller could ease the pounding Kamara takes by serving as the lead ball carrier in the future. Miller is just 22 years old and has shown some good things when given a chance. The 2023 third-round pick is definitely worth an add if he’s still available in your league.

Allen and Davis are probably owned in most dynasty leagues now, but they aren’t quite the fantasy options that an Isaac Guerendo, Tyrone Tracy or Tank Bigsby are, so I’m including them in this story.

Allen has been the No. 2 back behind Breece Hall all season, and Allen has delivered a couple decent fantasy showings. With Hall now battling an injury and the Jets out of the playoff picture, I thought New York might allow Allen to handle the backfield workload.

Instead, Davis and Allen split the workload in week 14. Allen was a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft, while Davis went in the fifth round, so it makes sense that the team is utilizing both backs to see what they have for the future.

I think both Allen and Davis need to be rostered in dynasty leagues now. Allen looks like the better long-term option, but I’m not going to count out Davis.

I actually think those two backs could lead the Jets as early as 2025. Hall is still on his rookie contract, but with the Jets likely undergoing sweeping changes after the season, trading Hall could help the Jets recoup some draft picks and maybe get back to a competitive state a bit quicker.

It’s a lot of speculation on my part, but in a dynasty league, that’s what fantasy owners need to be doing. Stash Allen and Davis at least until we know who the Jets’ backfield options are for 2025.
