October 22 Fantasy Hockey Teams to Stream: Joel Eriksson Ek, Artemi Panarin, Dylan Strome and More
NHL teams with the best matchups on Tuesday and the players who could benefit.
Hockey is a little more fickle than other fantasy sports because of the lack of stats. Baseball is similar, but I feel like hockey is the fantasy sport with the least going on. That means a lot is based on the luck of who finds the back of the net on a given night.
There are some players who score and assist at higher rates, but the muddled middle generally has the same chance of recording points. To increase the chances of finding guys who will rack up stats, it helps to look at the teams that allow the most shots and goals.
I went through the top 10 teams in most goals allowed and shots allowed through the first few weeks of the season and compared it to last year’s list of the same stats. Eight teams stood out:
- Anaheim Ducks
- Buffalo Sabres
- Detroit Red Wings
- Florida Panthers
- Montreal Canadiens
- Philadelphia Flyers
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- San Jose Sharks
The Sabres, Flyers, Penguins, and Sharks are in the top 10 in both shots and goals allowed before Tuesday’s games. The Panthers are 11th in both categories; I figured it was fair enough to include them.
The Ducks have allowed the most shots per game this year and were in the top 10 in both categories last year. It’s the same story for the Red Wings and Canadiens, who are third and fourth, respectively, in shots per game allowed this season.
Every team in the league is in action today, which means that eight teams have good matchups against those listed above. Let’s go through each of those squads and look at the players who have been most involved.
Not everyone listed below will be available as a fantasy free agent; this is about seeing who is shooting and playing the most and comparing the top players on each team in those areas. Those players who are available are some of Tuesday’s best streamers because of their matchups.
San Jose Sharks @ Anaheim Ducks
We’ll start with the only game that features two of our teams to target. This one might be an up-and-down contest with plenty of shooting and (hopefully) scoring. These teams played on October 12, and though there were only two goals (both by Anaheim), both teams had 30 shots on goal.
