Running back Devin Singletary finally put the Houston Texans on the board in the third quarter against the New York Jets.
Singletary scored on a one-yard touchdown run as the third quarter ended to pull the Texans within one score of the Jets. Kicker Matt Ammendola, a former Jets player himself, missed the extra point to keep the Jets lead at eight points.
Singletary scored thanks, in part, to the play of quarterback C.J. Stroud.
The Texans rookie quarterback hit tight ends Andrew Beck and Brevin Jordan for 26 and 23 yards, respectively, to get Houston in the red zone. The Jets committed a seven-yard pass interference call in the endzone to push the Texans to the one-yard line where Singletary was able to punch it in

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is in concussion protocol after his head slammed against the turf vs. the Jets, and Nico Collins also exited early with a calf injury.
The Houston Texans lost on the road to the New York Jets by a score of 30-6 in a game that also temporarily cost them starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, who exited with a concussion.
Sunday’s matchup between the Houston Texans and New York Jets will have a special meaning for some Texans players who previously played for the Jets, including linebacker Blake Cashman, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by New York.
After dealing with multiple injuries during his first two seasons, Cashman was traded to the Texans for a sixth-round pick during the offseason.

Facing both New York teams, including the Giants twice, was supposed to mean three playoff teams on top of the San Francisco 49ers and the first matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Two starters on the offensive line from last week are out this week against the Houston Texans.
The Jets had placed right guard Wes Schweitzer on injured reserve Saturday. They will now be without right tackle Carter Warren, who was deemed inactive for Sunday.
As a result, the Jets will be starting their 10th different offensive line combination this season in their 13th game.
Also inactive is Jason Brownlee, who was ruled out Friday. Expect Allen Lazard to again see an increased role as a result
