I had questions about the 49ers' QB depth but Brandon Allen is answering at least some of them with a very crisp outing here in Nashville tonight

From @NFLGameDay Kickoff: As the Brandon Aiyuk turns... ? pic.x.com/3pjuav7pfc

That wasn't even close. The missile Malik Mustapha made the fourth-down stop. I'm sure Kyle Shanahan isn't keen on using too many challenges in the preseason, but you've got to stick up for your young players in big confidence-building moments. This will be overturned

Jordan Mason on Dominick Puni: "Oh, I felt him, 100 percent. Because I was short until he came and pushed me."

This is essentially Tennessee's first-team offense vs. the 49ers second-team defense. Only probable SF starter out there is Ji'Ayir Brown

49ers' first-team offensive line for this preseason opener: LT Chris Hubbard LG Aaron Banks C Nick Zakelj RG Dominick Puni RT Colton McKivitz

5 carries, 30 yards and a manly TD for Jordan Mason, the hometown kid here in Nashville. What a cool moment for the 49ers running back
@LombardiHimself: 49ers RB Jordan Mason grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee -- just outside Nashville. He has several family members in attendance today, including his dad, who helped train Mason in the summer heat

There's been good and bad with Dee Winters. Important to be balanced if we're going to evaluate his push for playing time: -Key missed tackle vs Pollard -Electric close/hit on Levis -Great TFL (missile!) -Crossed up in space on Ridley YAC

Kalia Davis split that double team with the quickness of a former linebacker!
@TheSFNiners: #49ers Kalia Davis has been living in the backfield on this drive https://t.co/TJaVmv2Dge

This aged like Brock Purdy halftime playoff takes
@GottliebShow: Steph ain't helping kids. Loose with ball, minus defensively

Just saw a group of at least 6 Cody Schrader jerseys. Big day for the rookie!

Ronnie Bell was the lead blocker for Trent Taylor on the 49ers' first try at the new kickoff return. They treated it very much like a run play. I do think the Kyle Juszczyk/Deebo Samuel tandem will be the one of choice once these games matter

Which is why Saubert has clearly held the No. 2 TE spot since the start of camp
@Graham_SFN: Eric Saubert is clearly the best blocking TE the 49ers have not named George Kittle

Alex Barrett has been on the 49ers' practice squad since 2019, with some active roster call-ups in that span. But he's put in a lot of work for the team. Deserves some recognition -- a half-decade run in an NFL building is nothing to scoff at

DL Jonathan Garvin, whom the 49ers signed yesterday, and former Titan Shakel Brown made that fourth-down stop on Jabari Brown

Stanford product Curtis Robinson and Wake Forest rookie Malik Mustapha made some excellent tackles for the 49ers to end that drive. That reminds me that Stanford and Wake Forest played each other in 2009 and 2010. Alas, that was well before Robinson and Mustapha's time

The Titans swallowed the 49ers' kick coverage in blocks -- and Jake Moody actually had a key tackle opportunity that he missed. It wasn't a last-line-of-defense opportunity. So that return confirmed that kickers will indeed be key parts of coverage units. Plan accordingly

One game check for Trent Williams is $1.11 million. The 49ers have the ability to fine him up to that amount for every missed preseason game, but that's up to their discretion. The missed practices are mandatory, non-forgivable fines
@MaioccoNBCS: Trent Williams was a holdout for the first 13 practices of 49ers training camp. At $50,000 a day in fines, that's $650,000. According to the CBA, he is also subject to a fine of one regular-season game check for each preseason game missed.

The San Francisco 49ers opened their preseason schedule Saturday against the Tennessee Titans.
While most of the 49ers’ starters sat out, a handful of players who are expected to earn starting jobs in Week 1 took the field for the first exhibition match of the year.
Left guard Aaron Banks was among the starters. So was right tackle Colton McKivitz. Rookie third-round pick Dominick Puni also looks to be on track for a starting role in 2024.
He got the start in the preseason opener after taking hold of the right guard job in camp when Spencer Burford and Jon Feliciano both went down with injuries

The Tennessee Titans seemingly went all-in on second-year quarterback Will Levis this offseason. The Titans fired former head coach Mike Vrabel and replaced him with former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.
Callahan, a former UCLA quarterback, is known for his work with quarterbacks. He spent the last four seasons coaching Joe Burrow in Cincinnati.
Additionally, Tennessee spent big money at wide receiver, landing Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd to a group that already had DeAndre Hopkins and former first-round pick Treylon Burks. The Titans also signed free-agent running back Tony Pollard to a three-year deal, signed center Lloyd Cushenberry (four years) and used a top-10 pick on Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham

The 2024 Tennessee Titans are one of the NFL’s most mysterious teams. Tennessee underwent more change this offseason than anyone in the NFL outside of the Washington Commanders.
The Titans fired a successful head coach to bring in a first-time head coach. Mike Vrabel’s time in Tennessee seemed to be nearing its end for a while. Not only had the Titans had back-to-back losing seasons, but there were some issues between Vrabel and ownership.
Enter Brian Callahan. Callahan comes to Tennessee with a reputation for developing quarterbacks, which makes him the perfect mentor for Will Levis. The Titans completely revamped the offensive side of the ball this offseason, bringing in players such as Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, Tyler Boyd, Lloyd Cushenberry, and JC Latham

The Tennessee Titans hosted the San Francisco 49ers in their first preseason game of 2024. In a 17-13 victory over the Niners, the Titans had one standout player who made the biggest impact in their first game. Chance Campbell is the first Player of the Game for 2024.
The Titans linebacker made his presence known all over the field tonight. He recorded nine tackles (five solo), one sack, one tackle for a loss, a quarterback hit, and one pass defensed, and he ended the game by intercepting the ball with one second left on the clock
