Fantasy Football Wide Receiver & Tight End Start/Sit Week 3: Should You Start Jordan Addison, Drake London, Dalton Kincaid?
The importance of knowing who to start and who to sit can make or break a fantasy week and your matchup. People like to say “Start your studs,” and typically speaking, that is the way to go, especially early in the season, but sometimes a player's matchup gives them more value in a certain week. On the flip side, a player can also have a poor matchup that could give you a reason to bench them.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 3 Starts
Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Chargers
All of the love goes to Justin Jefferson in this Vikings offense, and of course, much of it is deserved. The thing is, Addison has had two terrific games to begin his career, and this week, he is positioned to have a third. The rookie has at least 61 receiving yards in each of the first two weeks, including a TD in both games, and now takes on a Chargers defense that has been torched through the air, ranking dead last in the NFL with 333 passing yards allowed per game and 31.5 points allowed per game. The Vikings are going to score a lot of points, and Addison will be one of the main reasons why. If you roster both him and Justin Jefferson, I give you the go-ahead to start both in the same lineup.
Drake London, Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions
London was very quiet in Week 1 along with the entire Falcons passing game. He was targeted just one time and didn’t haul in the catch. In Week 2 though, when the Falcons fell behind early and had to pass the ball to get back into the game, London was targeted seven times, catching six balls and getting into the end zone. This week, the Falcons face a Lions team that will score a lot of points, so they will once again be forced to air it out, setting London up for another big game. The Lions' defense has also struggled vs. the pass so far this season, ranking 26th in the league, so the matchup for London is excellent.
Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 3 Sits
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets vs. New England Patriots
Wilson is an amazing talent and was drafted as one of the top WRs this season in fantasy. The problem is, that the Jets want to try and run the football and that’s because with Zach Wilson at QB, the passing attack just isn’t good enough. Zach targeted Garrett eight times in Week 2, and Garrett was only able to catch two of them. Thankfully for fantasy managers, Garrett took one of the catches 68 yards for a TD. Long TDs like that can’t be expected every week, and certainly not this week against a Patriots defense that is very well-coached, disciplined, and specializes in not giving up the big play. This should be a low-scoring game, with both teams hammering the rock, so I would look to bench Garrett Wilson this week in your shallower leagues, where you are bound to have someone in a better matchup. Of course, if you are in a deeper league, this is a situation where you have to play your stud.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers
JSN is a very talented player, and he has seen 11 targets through the first two weeks, but he is still limited in his upside because he is the WR3 behind two fantastic players in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. They are both incredibly productive, and it leaves JSN in a position where if he doesn’t score a TD, he likely isn’t producing enough points to warrant being in your lineup. That is more for 10 and 12-team leagues. Of course, if you play in a deeper format, you may be happy to get four or five catches for 45-50 yards from a WR3. This game is also one that the Seahawks should be well ahead in, and in the second half, we could see a lot of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet pounding the rock.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 3 Starts
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Kmet has seen 13 targets through the first two weeks of the season and has put together games of 9.4 points and 7.8 points in PPR formats. Although those numbers aren’t exactly top-notch, if you play in 12-team leagues or even deeper, that’s the type of production that you will take most weeks. This week, he takes on a Chiefs team that could put up 30+ points against the Bears' defense, which means that the Bears will be forced to air it out on offense, which will benefit Kmet. The Chiefs gave up six catches and 57 yards to Evan Engram last week and seven catches for 56 yards to Lions TEs in Week 1. Kmet should be able to put up double-digit points against them, and he could finally find the end zone for the first time this season.
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills vs. Washington Commanders
Kincaid saw just four targets in the Bills' Week 1 loss to the Jets but saw an uptick to six targets in the Bills' Week 2 victory over the Raiders. The most intriguing part for Kincaid is that he has been lining up as a WR in the Bills offense, with Dawson Knox lining up at TE. The fact that the two guys can co-exist in the offense is also a good sign, and Josh Allen looks to target his TEs not just in the red zone but also in short-yardage situations. Kincaid also has shown the ability to run after the catch, which adds to his fantasy value.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 3 Sits
Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Chargers' passing game has been excellent this season, but Everett has not been a big part of it. He has seen just three targets in each of the first two games this season and even played fewer snaps in Week 2 than his backup Donald Parham. With the lack of snaps, lack of targets, and the incredible amount of targets that go to the WRs in the Chargers' offense, there just doesn’t seem to be a large enough role for Everett to produce fantasy numbers that will help you week to week. Until he is featured more in the offense, he should be sitting on your bench in 10, 12, and 14-team leagues.
Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Schultz was excellent with the Cowboys, however, he has not been productive enough since heading to the cross-town rival Texans. It has only been two weeks, so I am trying not to overreact, but the Texans have been playing from behind nearly all season long and have been forced to air it out. Even with that being the case, Schultz has just six catches for 38 yards heading into Week 3, while the Texans WRs like Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and Tank Dell all have been heavily featured. Until Stroud starts to look Schultz’s way more often, I can’t get behind starting him in 10 and 12-team leagues and would need to have no good options on the waiver wire to even consider him in 14-team leagues.
