We are heading towards the middle of the season, and trends are beginning to form. In many cases, a player who has earned the trust of the coaching staff in certain situations gets more opportunities in those situations.

Fantasy Football Red Zone Report

This week, there were seven receivers (six WRs and one TE) who were targeted three or more times in the red zone. For the season, all but one of them are in the top 23 in red zone targets (Terry McLaurin). And three of them are in the top 10 (Drake London, Jordan Addison, and Michael Thomas).

Top Red Zone Targets Week 7

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders: McLaurin led all WRs for the week with four red zone targets. What’s most interesting about that stat is that those four targets were his first four this entire season in the red zone. For the year, he’s played in 386 snaps, has been targeted 51 times and has gained 432 yards, yet he’s been a complete afterthought in the red zone before this past week.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders: Another Commander, Samuel, was targeted three times in the red zone on Sunday, bringing his total to seven for the season. Samuel and McLaurin accounted for seven of the team’s 13 offensive plays in the red zone, which is a large amount of snaps inside the 20-yard line to only score seven points. For the season, Jahan Dotson is second on the team with six red zone attempts, but he was not featured this week.

Drake London, Atlanta Falcons: For the season, London is doubling fellow teammate Jonnu Smith in red zone targets, 10 to only five. On Sunday, London had three, catching two passes. Of his 50 targets, 20% of them have come in the red zone. And considering the Falcons like to run the ball, that’s a solid figure.

Michael Thomas & Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints: Thomas and Olave each had three red zone targets this week. For the season, Thomas has the edge over Olave, nine to seven. RB Alvin Kamara had six red zone attempts just this week. The Saints were at least more productive in the red zone than the Commanders were. They put up 24 points against the Jaguars, and these three combined to see an opportunity on 12 out of the team’s 15 red zone attempts.

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings: A third of Addison's red zone targets for the season occurred Monday Night, increasing his total by 50%, going from six to nine red zone targets. And overall, he had a monster game. He was on the field for 52 snaps with 10 targets and seven catches. He scored two TDs while gaining 123 yards. His nine red zone targets lead the Vikings, which is impressive considering the team does have T.J. Hockenson.

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens: Andrews is the only non-WR to have at least three red zone targets this week. Among tight ends, Travis Kelce and Jake Ferguson each have 11 on the year, and Andrews is next with eight. He actually has 20 fewer receptions this season than Kelce does, but has the edge in TDs, five to four.

Top Red Zone Rushers Week 7

Four RBs had six or more red zone touches this week:

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons: With Bijan Robinson on the sideline, Allgeier led all RBs with seven red zone touches this week. For the season, even with Robinson healthy, he has three times as many as the rookie, 21 to seven, and is seventh in the league.

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints: Kamara has been a monster since he came back from his three-game suspension, but the success for the team just hasn’t been there. In just four games, his production is eerily similar to Derrick Henry's. He only has five fewer touches than Henry and 104 fewer total yards ... and they each have 13 red zone touches for the season.

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts: For the season, Zack Moss still leads the Colts with 19 red zone touches. But now that Taylor is fully back, the pendulum is turning. They each played 35 snaps and each 18 touches, but six of Taylor’s touches were inside the red zone, while none of Moss’ were.

Ezekiel Elliot, New England Patriots: It’s nice to see Zeke on this list. He was incredibly efficient in Week 7. He was on the field for 21 snaps and had 11 touches, with over half of them (six) in the red zone. Fellow RB Rhamondre Stevenson nearly doubled Zeke’s snaps, but had fewer touches. Elliot is the perfect complimentary back to Stevenson this season, and the two have been in a pretty consistent 60/40 tandem.
