Best Fantasy Football FAAB Pickups for Shallow Leagues (10 and 12 Teams)
QB Will Levis, Tennessee Titans
He looks so much better for this Titans offense than Ryan Tannehill has at any point this season. There’s some growing pains to be expected from a player who has only made two starts in the NFL, but if you watch him, he looks the part and has a great feel for running the offense. He’s nothing more than a backup in a 10 or 12-team league right now, but depending on his matchup, he could become starter-worthy, so you should look to spend 12-15% of your remaining FAAB on him this week and 16-20% in a deeper league. I don’t think the Titans will go back to Tannehill again, even when he is healthy.
QB Joshua Dobbs, Minnesota Vikings
Dobbs was a solid QB2 in most leagues when he was quarterbacking the Cardinals. After being traded to Minnesota, he was supposed to be on the bench on Week 9. However, early on in the game he was forced into action and he was excellent. He led the Vikings to a huge comeback win, throwing for two TDs amd running for 66 yards and a TD. He will be the starter in Minnesota for the remainder of the season and when Justin Jefferson comes back, he will have get a massive boost from throwing to the best WR in football. After what I saw in Week 9, in all-in on Dobbs and am dropping 14-18% of my remaining budget on him.
QB Tyson Bagent, Chicago Bears
Bagent has definitely been a pleasant surprise for the Bears and in Week 9 he put up a solid day in fantasy football. His 220 yards passing and two TDs were great and his 70 yards rushing was icing on the cake. He has a tough matchup in Week 10 vs. a top 10 passing defense of the Panthers, but Bagent could continue to play after that if the Bears decide to be cautious with Justin Fields. Your leaguemates are unlikely to be aggressive in bidding because of his upcoming matchup, so you should be able to spend 1-3% of your remaining budget.
RB Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns
He shares the backfield with Jerome Ford so he still finds himself on a number of waiver wires in shallow leagues. That needs to change this week though considering Hunt has scored a TD in four consecutive games and has five total in those four games. The Browns also got Deshaun Watson back in Week 9 which only strengthens their offense moving forward. Spend 8-12% of your remaining budget on Hunt this weekend.
Best Fantasy Football FAAB Pickups for Deep Leagues (14 and 16 Teams)
QB Taylor Heinicke, Atlanta Falcons
He is more turnover prone than Desmond Ridder, but he also moves up and down the field with this offense much more than Ridder. The Falcons' offense was pretty boring this season until Heinicke took over, and he has a great matchup in Week 10 against a Cardinals defense that ranks 26th in the NFL in yards allowed and 27th in points allowed. Spend 5-7% of your remaining budget on Heinicke this week.
RB Devin Singletary, Houston Texans
Before pulling the trigger on a bid for Singletary, be sure to monitor if Dameon Pierce can play in Week 10 after he missed Week 9 with an ankle injury. Singletary was inefficient in Pierce’s absence but led the backfield in snaps and touches and will again if Pierce misses more time. The Texans put up 39 points in Week 9 and although the running game wasn’t a big part of it, they do face a Bengals defense next week that ranks in the bottom five of the league against the run, making Singletary an interesting streamer if Pierce remains out. 2-5% of your remaining budget is recommended if you only plan on streaming him. If you think he will continue to see 12-15 touches per game, 4-7% will suffice.
RB Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens
Gus Edwards is still going to get touches and specifically the red zone touches, but after Week 9’s breakout performance, Mitchell needs to be picked up this week. He carried the ball just nine times in Week 9, which is fewer than both Edwards and Justice Hill, however Mitchell ended the day with 138 rushing yards compared to 52 from Edwards and 40 from Hill. The Ravens love to pound the rock and, considering how ineffective Justice Hill has been, Mitchell is bound to cut into his snaps and carries. Spend 7-11% of your remaining budget on the 5’8" rookie out of East Carolina.
