The waiver wire period has come and gone and you may have missed out on the guy you wanted. The waiver wire darlings everyone was clamoring for are long gone and you're still looking to fill out your roster and maybe even your lineup. These are the late waiver wire adds that you should be picking up. Everyone listed is rostered in less than 50% of leagues.
Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups
Quarterbacks
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Rostered: 43.3%
Love hasn't been very good since getting off to a hot start the first few weeks of the season, however, he has a fantastic matchup this week against the Los Angeles Chargers. LA is allowing the second most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year and the Packers are bad enough that they will most likely fall behind quickly. Love will be throwing the entire game to try to keep up and the Chargers' defense will give him every opportunity to pile up fantasy points as they so often do.
Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos
Rostered: 48%
He got off to a rough start, but Russ really hasn't been all that bad this season. Early on he was putting up fantasy points but looked awful. Now he's actually playing decent. We've seen him look more mobile than we had with the Broncos up until recently and he's making plays outside of the pocket. It's a middle-of-the-pack matchup, nevertheless, in a vacuum Wilson is probably the best quarterback available on your waiver wire.
Running Backs
Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
Rostered: 14.6%
Chandler has been popping up in article after article this week and for good reason. It looks like he'll be getting bell-cow touches against the Broncos who have given up more fantasy points to opposing running backs than any other defense in the NFL. As long as Alexander Mattison is sidelined as we expect, Chandler has legitimate low-end RB1 upside in this game. The fact that his ownership percentage is still so low is incredible.
Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys
Rostered: 2.0%
As bad as the Broncos are against the run, the Carolina Panthers are probably even worse. They have given up the second-most fantasy points to running backs, but have been much worse than Denver since their 70-point drubbing from the Miami Dolphins. They are bad enough that two running backs can thrive against them this week and Dowdle has seen an increased role behind a struggling Tony Pollard. A blowout could also help increase Dowdle's volume in Week 11. He's not a bad desperation flex option this week.
Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
Rostered: 28.8%
It's a nightmare trying to guess which Packers' wideout to start and Reed is as good as any of them. From an efficiency standpoint, he's been the best of the bunch this season. No one should be surprised if the rookie has a massive breakout down the stretch for fantasy owners. We see it all the time with rookie wideouts and almost every advanced metric points to him being the best wideout on the team so far this season.
Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers
Rostered: 32.7%
At some point, Johnston has to be the guy. We are getting to the point where there is just no one left. Mike Williams is out for the year, Joshua Palmer is on injured reserve, Gerald Everett is trending toward missing another game, and Keenen Allen is battling through a sprained AC joint. Johnston should see volume out of pure necessity in this one. Still, we don't fully trust him, nonetheless, his upside makes him worth considering if you're in desperation mode.
Tight Ends
Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers
Rostered: 11.8%
The trend continues of targeting Packers because they are up against the Chargers. There is good reason for that and it's that they can't stop anyone from doing anything. They are giving up the second-most fantasy points to QBs, the fourth-most to running backs, the sixth-most to receivers, and the fifth-most to tight ends. If you are looking for a plug-in option just grab Packers and play them this week. Musgrave is a great start if you're streaming TEs.
Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans
Rostered: 6.4%
Okonkwo has been one of the most disappointing TEs this season, but this is the best matchup you'll find from an available tight end. The Jacksonville Jaguars are giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends and we have to hope that the emergence of Will Levis will help Chig turn things around. There is no lack of talent for Okonkwo, so we will just have to hope that talent and a change of QB will help him thrive down the stretch just like we saw last season.
