Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups Week 15: Ty Chandler, Zay Jones, Jake Browning, Isaiah Likely and More
If you are still searching your waiver wire for fantasy options these are the guys you should be picking up.
The waiver wire period has come and gone and you may have missed out on the guy you wanted. The waiver wire darlings everyone was clamoring for are long gone and you're still looking to fill out your roster and maybe even your lineup. These are the late waiver wire adds that you should be picking up. Everyone listed is rostered in less than 50% of leagues.
Last Minute Waiver Wire Pickups
Quarterbacks
Jake Browning, Cincinnati Bengals
Rostered: 29.4%
We recommended Browning in this article the last two weeks and he has come out and balled out. In his two starts, he has completed over 80% of his passes, thrown for 629 yards, and accounted for six total TDs with just one interception. Those are eye-popping numbers that shouldn't be ignored. Last week he picked apart the Indianapolis Colts who are giving up fewer fantasy points to quarterbacks than the Minnesota Vikings, who are his opponents this week. It's too soon to know if Browning is the real deal or not, but if you are looking for a quarterback this late on the week that your fantasy playoffs start then you aren't going to do any better and may not need to.
Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns
Rostered: 7.2%
Flacco has been the best fantasy quarterback the Browns have had this season and that includes DeShaun Watson. While that has to be concerning for this franchise, it's been great for fantasy owners. In his two starts, he has thrown for 365 yards, five TDs, and two interceptions. He looks like a competent quarterback and it now appears safe that he keeps this job unless the wheels completely fall off. The way he's slinging it and not turning the ball over at an alarming rate has to be comforting for a desperate coaching staff in Cleveland.
Running Backs
Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
Rostered: 19.5%
This ownership percentage is far too low. Alexander Mattison is not expected to play this week and Chandler will be serving as the RB1 for the Vikings. If he is on your waivers you should be picking him up immediately. Even if it's just to see how he does or to block someone else from getting him. We don't know how long Mattison will be out, but Chandler has the potential to help carry your fantasy team through the playoffs. Fantasy owners have been clamoring for him to get this opportunity for a long time and it's worth adding him to your roster to at the very least see what he does.
D'Onta Foreman, Chicago Bears
Rostered: 30.6%
Upon his return from injury, Foreman served as the clear RB1 in Chicago. He saw 11 carries while Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert combined for just four. Foreman also saw three targets while the other two backs weren't targeted at all. If you can find an RB1 floating around on waivers at this time of year then you need to pick him up. He's a locked-in RB1 for the duration of the playoffs and that is nearly impossible to find this time of year.
Wide Receivers
Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
Rostered: 10.9%
In his first game without Christian Kirk in the lineup last week, Jones saw 14 targets. He only turned that into 29 yards, but that was in a very tough matchup against the Browns, and the previous week he turned eight targets into five receptions and 78 yards. Jones has proven to be one of Trevor Lawrence's favorite targets and he gets his fair share of red zone targets. Injuries have limited him this season, but Jones could be a league-winning type wideout down the stretch. No one should be surprised if he leads this WR corps in fantasy points through the playoffs.
Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders
Rostered: 12.6%
We don't quite understand why the fantasy community chooses to completely ignore Samuel. In his past two games alone he's seen 17 targets for 165 yards. You can make a strong case that he's the best fantasy option of the Commanders wideouts right now. He's not an auto-start by any stretch of the imagination, nevertheless, this ownership percentage is criminally low, especially when you consider that Jahan Dotson is rostered in 44.5% of leagues.
Tight Ends
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Rostered: 24.3%
Likely is never going to be Mark Andrews, but fantasy owners should be happy if they picked him up as a replacement. Over the past two weeks, he's seen 13 targets and turned them into 123 yards and a TD. Last week was his best week, catching five of seven targets for 83 yards and a TD. There is no reason to believe he won't continue to see more than five targets a game, and he has the ability to convert them into fantasy points. If you are searching the waiver wire for a tight end to stream, then Likely is an outstanding option who is widely available in the majority of leagues.
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
Rostered: 18.6%
Hunter Henry has clearly separated himself once again as the tight end to own in New England over Mike Gesicki. He is coming off a two-TD game and is seeing a ton of targets. Only once this year has he seen less than three targets in a game and over the past four games he's been targeted 18 times. Due to poor quarterback play, he's not a ceiling play, however, he does have a safe floor and gets plenty of looks in the end zone.
