Jordan Walker Slumping Slightly but Remains a Must-Start Power Threat

Walker has cooled off over the last seven days with a .167 average, but his 14-day metrics (.278 average, three homers) show his breakout remains intact. He continues to serve as the everyday right fielder for the second-place Cardinals (40-32), carrying the offense despite minor injuries to team depth. His league-leading exit velocities this month have solidified his role as a cornerstone of the lineup.

Walker's current .285 average and 18 home runs are a massive step forward from his (.215) 2025 campaign. While our models project a more conservative rest-of-season baseline of a .233 average and 14 homers, his underlying hard-hit data suggests a true talent surge. Do not let a brief weekly lull trick you into selling low on a legitimate power asset.

St. Louis plays three remaining road games against Kansas City to finish the week. Walker draws decent matchups against Noah Cameron (4.11 ERA) and Seth Lugo (3.86 ERA), who both have vulnerable WHIPs, before facing a tougher Stephen Kolek (2.68 ERA). Given his immense upside, he remains a locked-in option. Verdict: Start.
