Week 4 Fantasy Football Drop Candidates: Justin Herbert, Zamir White, Alec Pierce and More
These are some players you could consider dropping off your roster and onto waivers heading into Week 4.
Quarterbacks
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
If you were still holding out hope for Herbert this season, it's time to let go. Not only is he the head of a run-first offense surrounded by subpar weapons, but he is also once again struggling to stay healthy.
He's dealing with a high-ankle sprain that he attempted to play through in Week 3 and suffered a setback that will likely cost him some time. Get rid of him and never look back. There is no need to live in the past with this once prolific fantasy quarterback.
Running Backs
Zamir White, Las Vegas Raiders
The only allure to White was an overwhelming amount of volume. Not only is he underperforming his low expectations, but he's also in a full-blown committee with Alexander Mattison, who is seeing the more valuable opportunities. Mattison is the choice both on passing downs and on the goal line. This leaves White as an almost useless fantasy option.
D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
Swift is a guy that a lot of fantasy owners, including us, have been holding out hope on for a long time. We have been waiting for him to reach his full potential for as long as he's been in the league. There were valid excuses for his lack of production in Detroit and even in Philly.
Now in Chicago, he's once again struggling and looks worse than the other mediocre running backs on the team. It's time to accept that Swift just is never going to be the guy we thought he would be and move on. Not only is he not as good as we hoped, but he's flat-out bad.
Gus Edwards, Los Angeles Chargers
Edwards has fallen into the clear backup role for the Chargers. J.K. Dobbins has seized the lead-back job because he's soundly outplayed Edwards.
He has looked bad enough that even if Dobbins were to slow down or get injured, they could advance someone like Kimani Vidal up the depth chart and give him increased touches with every opportunity to jump Edwards as well. We just aren't seeing the value here anymore. Move on.
D'Onta Foreman, Cleveland Browns
It's hard to figure out exactly what is going on with the running backs in Cleveland. Jerome Ford was back to being the clear top back in Week 3 with Foreman being an afterthought - in Week 2, Foreman saw twice as many carries as Ford.
This is a confusing situation and we want nothing to do with Foreman and this guessing game. If we are going to roll the dice with this backfield, we're going with Ford.
Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos
If you listened to us last week, Williams would already be clogging up some other poor guy's roster. Nevertheless, we felt the need to reiterate the fact that you need to get Williams off your team and onto someone else's. He's more helpful to you there.
This week he rushed for 12 yards on five carries while Tyler Badie led the team in both carries and yards, and Jaleel McLaughlin scored the TD on the goal line. At no point will you feel comfortable starting him and if you do, he'll more than likely let you down. He's just not good and it's time to accept that fact.
Wide Receivers
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
The narrative here is that with Josh Downs back, Pierce is no longer useful. While this is true, there is a bigger issue in Indy. Anthony Richardson has looked awful and we aren't sure he can sustain any fantasy wideout.
People are legitimately considering cutting Michael Pittman Jr., so of course all his other options can be cut from your fantasy team. Until Richardson fixes his issues, you can cut all the Colts' receiving options other than Pittman, who we would still stash on our bench for a bit longer. Don't be shocked if you see him in this article sooner rather than later though.
Tyler Johnson, Los Angeles Rams
This WR corps is becoming a complete disaster. Anyone who targeted Johnson after the injuries to both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp can safely drop him. It appears the top guy is now Tutu Atwell. If not, the next guy up would be Demarcus Robinson, who has been a massive disappointment.
We would suggest completely avoiding this group until Nacua or Kupp returns if at all possible. It's a mess and not worth the headache. They just want to run the ball as much as humanely possible.
