Thanksgiving is three days from today. (I know Canada has a different Thanksgiving, but I’m not sure if any Canadians read what I write?) Time starts flying around the holidays, when Thanksgiving bleeds into Christmas into the New Year. We’re about to jump on a roller coaster.

Staying grounded with today, let’s look at six NHL teams with good matchups on Thursday and the players on those teams who are most involved in the action. Not everyone listed below will be available, but it’s good to compare usage across the same team.

I try not to list injured players, but always check actives/inactives before game time to ensure everybody in your lineup is playing. Stats are from NHL.com.

Florida Panthers vs. Nashville Predators

The Predators have allowed the 13th-most shots per game and the seventh-most goals per game, just missing out on the double top 10; I’ll say it’s close enough to target them.

New Jersey Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens

Montreal has given up the sixth-most shots per game and second-most goals per game, sitting as one of the best fantasy targets.

Defenders

New York Rangers vs. Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are ninth in both most shots allowed and most goals allowed per game.

Defenders

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh probably is the best matchup in the league right now: They are allowing the third-most shots per game and fourth-most goals per game. One day last week, Pittsburgh ranked first in both categories.

Defenders

St. Louis Blues vs. Utah Hockey Club

Utah is another team that just misses the double top 10 cutoff, ranking 12th in most shots allowed per game and sixth in goals. We’ll include them and call it horseshoes (close enough).

St. Louis’ Top Shooters and Time on Ice

Defenders

Minnesota Wild @ San Jose Sharks

San Jose has allowed both the fifth-most shots and goals per game. They were also a team to target last year, showing staying power in the basement.
