The Cleveland Browns safety Vincent Gray left the game against the Green Bay Packers with a groin injury. Gray was seen heading into the locker room with the trainers.
Grey was a late addition to the Browns last season. The safety from the University of Michigan signed with the Browns’ practice squad in November. He played in the team’s regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. He finished the game with 5 tackles and multiple pass breakups. Gray is battling for a spot on the 53-man roster.
The NFL season is always described as a war of attrition and the first half of the Packers’ game has served as a stark reminder that cliches are true for a reason. During the first half, the Browns lost safety Ronnie Hickman Jr., Luke Wypler, and David Bell. Hopefully, Gray will be able to return during the second half. The pursuit of San Francisco 49ers’ All-Pro wide receiver looks to have come to an end for the Cleveland Browns, one that reportedly included potentially sending Amari Cooper to the Bay Area.
And the Pro Bowler in Cleveland has seemingly heard the noise surrounding his name, taking to Instagram to say “lol I wouldn’t mind at all.” This came after a report that the Browns had an agreement in place for Brandon Aiyuk, sending Cooper, a second round pick, and a fifth round pick to the Niners.

Last year, the Cleveland Browns had one of the best defenses in the NFL. Under first-year defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, the group was disruptive and, at times, lock down in the back end.
But reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett knows there are still areas for improvement for the group in 2024. While appearing on NFL Network this week, Garrett highlighted the team’s struggles in the red zone and how they often looked like a different group on the road compared to at home.

After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski was fast to mention that Wypler will be undergoing surgery following the injury to his ankle. There is no timetable on his return, but he will undoubtedly be placed on Injured Reserve once he is placed on the initial 53-man roster first.
For the Browns now, they are down two centers to injuries already as they were forced to release veteran Brian Allen with an injury designation during the first week of training camp.
