James Cook is not happy with the NFL right now.
On Thursday, the league announced the initial players named to the 2025 Pro Bowl rosters. Cook was there… only as a first alternate.
Many around Buffalo will consider Cook as the player at the top of their list of those that were snubbed. But considering only quarterback Josh Allen and offensive lineman Dion Dawkins were selected from the Bills, that’s probably a longer list than just Cook.
Cook will very likely end the 2024 season under 1,000 rushing yards as he sits on 981 currently and in Buffalo’s season finale he won’t see much, if any, playing time

Pro Bowl snubs happen every year, but the New England Patriots aren’t in any position to be complaining about snubs this season, except for when it comes to cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
The second-year defensive back was one of the best players at the position this season. He’s left a long line of defeated receivers in his wake of one-on-one matchups, but it still wasn’t enough to earn his first-ever Pro Bowl nod.
Special teams ace Brenden Schooler was the only Patriots player who received a Pro Bowl invitation in 2024. There’s hope that number grows next season, and there is the potential for it to do so with a few players on the roster capable of a breakout year.
The New England Patriots released the final injury report of the season on Friday, and four players have already been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Christian Gonzalez, Ben Brown, Jabrill Peppers and Ja’Lynn Polk have all been ruled out for the game. Meanwhile, Drake Maye was included in a list of six players deemed questionable to play in the season finale.
Maye’s status for the game is particularly interesting considering all indications pointed toward him playing on Sunday. He is currently dealing with a right hand injury, but coach Jerod Mayo said the injury had “no effect” on the rookie quarterback at practice
