Coby White Fantasy Basketball Trade Value | Should You Trade Away White for Tyus Jones, Kyle Kuzma or Others?

Making trades in fantasy basketball leagues isn't usually as much fun as deals that go down in fantasy football leagues, but the right moves can turn your team from an average one into a contender.

We’re a good portion of the way through the NBA season, but most importantly, fantasy football leagues are just about all wrapped up, so fantasy owners might now have time to discuss potential basketball teams.

Let’s dive into the FantasySP trade analyzer and answer some of the popular trades. Chicago Bulls’ Coby White appears in a couple of the trades, so let’s discuss him today.

Explore the best in-season tool to manage lineup/start decisions including waiver pickups, projections, trade suggestions, trade value charts, rest of season rankings, power rankings, and tons more with Fantasy Assistant. Use our fantasy basketball trade analyzer to break down trade scenarios.

Coby White Fantasy Outlook

White is enjoying his best season as a pro. He’s started all 34 games he’s appeared in and is averaging 35 minutes, 17.7 points, 4.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks, while committing 2.5 fouls and 2 turnovers per contest.

White is shooting 39.1% from the floor overall and is a career best 39.1% on his 3-pointers. He’s a solid 82.2% from the line.

The fifth-year player has scored in double figures in all but four contests - he’s scored 20+ points on 11 occasions, and has a pair of 30+ point games. White has gone over five rebounds on 15 occasions. He’s tallied over five assists 18 times, with one game over 10 assists. White has a steal in 19 games and a block in eight contests.

White’s fantasy value could dip soon if Zach Lavine returns, so I understand the reasoning behind White being in a couple popular trades.

White is currently 92nd in the FantasySP trade value charts.

Potential Trade Pieces

White is part of popular trades with Washington Wizards’ Tyus Jones and Kyle Kuzma.

Jones has started all 32 games he’s appeared in, averaging 28 minutes, 12.6 points, 3 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks, while committing 0.8 fouls and turnovers. He’s shooting 53.7% from the floor, 42.5% from deep and 77.3% from the line.

Kuzma has also started in all 32 contests he’s played in, averaging 31.3 minutes, 23.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.6 blocks and 0.3 steals, while committing 2.6 turnovers and 2.2 fouls. He’s shooting 46.6% overall, 35.7% from deep and 76.8% from the line.

Jones slots in 69th on the trade value charts, while Kuzma is 58th.

Should You Deal White for Jones or Kuzma?

I’ve found the trade value charts to be extremely valuable when trying to evaluate multiple NBA players. It’s really a fantastic tool when making any type of fantasy transaction.

Seeing White’s trade value mark and then comparing it to Jones and Kuzma, there’s a noticeable gap between those players. There’s a lot of NBA players though, so the gap isn’t nearly as big as it seems.

Looking at the player’s averages, Kuzma clearly has better numbers than White. If you are trying to land White, I’d either move a different player than Kuzma, or tack on an additional player with White - it wouldn’t need to be a huge piece, but it would need to be a player with a pretty defined role.

As for a White for Jones deal, White has better averages and is playing a good deal more per game, which is a big deal in fantasy basketball. You can throw this trade out there and see if an owner might bite. I have a feeling the owner who is getting White is going to need to add another piece to the deal to help even things out a bit.

So to answer the question to this section, no I wouldn’t trade Kuzma or Jones straight up for White - even when considering the return of Lavine to the Bulls, although the White for Jones swap is a more reasonable deal to me then. In the Kuzma deal, another player needs to be tacked on to White. In the Jones deal, I think a larger deal is needed to even out the trade, or a single player needs to be added to Jones to acquire White.

If a fantasy owner is offering you Kuzma for White, I’d instantly accept that deal, and the same can be said if an owner is offering you White for Jones.

Other Players Near White in Trade Value

If you are insistent on acquiring or moving White, let’s look at the trade value charts and find some players you could potentially target.

Some players ranked right around White in the trade value charts are Brooklyn Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie, Phoenix Suns’ Bradley Beal, Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis, Detroit Pistons’ Jalen Duren, Toronto Raptors’ Dennis Schroder and Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson.

Clarkson is the top scorer (17) among that group, with all of them above 12.5 points. That means White is a better scorer, but again with Lavine coming back, that could change moving forward.

Schroder is averaging the most assists (7) of the group, with Clarkson (5.3) and Dinwiddie (6.5) also averaging more assists than White.

Duren is a double-double machine, averaging 12.9 points and 11.8 rebounds this season. Portis is the next best rebounder, at 6.8 per game. White is at least a slightly better rebounder than anybody else.

Duren also averages 1.1 blocks per game. Schroder has the most steals per game (1).

White’s fantasy value should dip a little bit when Lavine comes back, so it really would make sense to deal him for several of these guys.

I’d prioritize the guys that play the most minutes, so that’d be Dinwiddie, Schroder and Clark. I’d be fine moving White for any of those three guys.

Duren is another guy that plays nearly 30 minutes and can constantly get you fantasy points as a scorer and rebounder, so I’d move White for him too.

Beal would normally be a guy you’d want for White, but given his injury troubles this season, I’d try to stay away from him. Portis is a fine option off the bench for the Bucks, but he doesn’t typically play enough minutes to be a better fantasy asset than White, so I’d avoid that deal too.
