Waiver Wire Options
We’ll kick off today’s conversation by talking about Chicago Bulls’ Ayo Dosunmu, who is owned in 59% of leagues right now. He recorded 29 points, seven assists, two rebounds and a steal and block across 39 minutes played in the team’s win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Dosunmu has scored in double figures in 13 of the team’s past 14 games. He’s averaging 15.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1 steal and 0.9 blocks across 32.3 minutes over that span. His points alone are enough to roster him in deeper leagues, but until he can bump up a couple of those averages, his own percentage should remain pretty close to where it is now. I believe there’s better fantasy assets out there for standard leagues.
Philadelphia 76ers’ Kelly Oubre Jr., owned in 81% of leagues, totaled 24 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist and block across 41 minutes in the team’s win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Oubre has helped Philly stay relevant after the Joel Embiid injury. He’s scored in double figures in 10 straight games, averaging 19.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.9 steals and blocks across 34.7 minutes over that span. He’s a solid fantasy asset in all formats, and usually he posts more well-rounded outings than on Monday, so I'd be in favor of adding him for the time being.
Atlanta’s De'Andre Hunter, owned in just 33% of leagues, accumulated 23 points, six rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 28 minutes off the bench in the team’s loss.
It was the most minutes Hunter has played in a game since late December. He scored in double figures for a fourth straight game. His ceiling is capped by playing only about half the game (and coming off the bench), but he’s still a guy I like adding in deeper formats, at least for a little bit.
Houston Rockets’ Dillon Brooks, owned in 48% of leagues, finished with 23 points, five rebounds and one assist across 37 minutes played in the team’s win over the New York Knicks.
It was the fourth straight game that Brooks scored in double figures, with three of those over 20 points. He plays enough each game to stuff the stat sheet pretty well, so he’s a guy I’d be OK adding in all formats - he could become droppable again once he cools off offensively.
Charlotte Hornets’ Grant Williams tallied 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and a block across 31 minutes off the bench in the team’s win over the Indiana Pacers. He’s owned in 25% of leagues.
Williams has been solid in his first two games with his new team, combining for 36 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and one block. He’s played 32 and 31 minutes, which is plenty of time to be a good fantasy asset. I’d add him in deeper leagues and keep an eye on him in standard leagues.
Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith, owned in 72% of leagues, recorded 21 points, three rebounds and one assist across 33 minutes in the team’s loss.
It was the first time Nesmith hit 20 points in five contests. He’s had a couple games over that stretch where he filled the stat sheet, but he’s also had games like Monday where he primarily just scores. I like Nesmith in deeper leagues, but believe there’s probably better options out there in standard leagues.
Charlotte’s Seth Curry ended the night with 18 points, two rebounds and assists and one steal across 19 minutes off the bench. He’s owned in 3% of leagues.
In his first two games with Charlotte, Curry has played nearly 20 and 19 minutes. He got three shots in the first game before taking 11 last night. If he can continue scoring like he did Monday, then he’d be an option in deeper leagues, but I’d like to see similar outings before making the move.
New York’s Precious Achiuwa, owned in 71% of leagues, capped the evening with eight points, 17 rebounds and three blocks in 39 minutes.
Achiuwa failed to score in double figures for the first time in seven games, but he made up for it with a monster night on the boards. He’s playing a ton of minutes and has two stats (points and rebounds) where he can help out fantasy teams. If you can live with some lower-scoring games like Monday, then Achiuwa is a decent fantasy asset in any format until the Knicks are at full strength again.
Washington Wizards’ Marvin Bagley III, owned in 53% of leagues, totaled 12 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and one steal and block across 28 minutes in the team’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Bagley got a second straight start and scored in double figures for the first time since returning from a four-game absence. He’s a good option in deeper leagues right now, and is a fairly decent standard league option if he can continue posting games like he did Monday. Keep an eye on Bagley.
Charlotte’s Herbert Jones accumulated 17 points, nine rebounds, five steals and an assist across 35 minutes on Monday. He’s owned in 56% of leagues.
Jones scored in double figures for a fourth straight game, while continuing to stuff the stat sheet in other areas. With how many minutes Jones is playing and how he’s a pretty well-rounded player, I like Jones in all formats (although there may be better options out there in standard leagues).
Top Rookies
Toronto Raptors’ Gradey Dick, rostered in 10% of leagues, finished the night with 18 points and two rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench in the team’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Dick has gotten more playing time of late, and had several solid scoring outings. He unfortunately doesn’t do much else on the court, but he’s still probably at least worth stashing in deeper leagues and dynasties.
Golden State Warriors’ Trayce Jackson-Davis ended the night with 11 points, four rebounds and one assist and block in just nine minutes of action off the bench in a win over the Utah Jazz. He’s owned in 2% of leagues.
Jackson-Davis hasn’t gotten much playing time of late, but maybe he earned himself a little extra run over the next couple games after a very efficient outing on Monday. He’s worth monitoring in deeper leagues and dynasties after being a decent fantasy threat earlier in the season - although he played his best ball with Draymond Green away from the team.
Golden State’s Brandin Podziemski tallied 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal across 25 minutes off the bench on Monday. He’s owned in 66% of leagues.
Podziemski continues to stuff the stat sheet pretty much every night he’s on the court. His playing time jumps up and down all the time, so it’s hard to really set expectations for him. I like hanging on to him in deeper leagues and dynasties though.
Houston’s Amen Thompson had another nice outing in the team’s win on Monday. Thompson, owned in 53% of leagues, recorded eight points, 13 rebounds and five assists and steals across 38 minutes played.
Thompson has started four straight games, averaging 10.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks across 34.1 minutes played over that span. You’d like to see him score a bit more, but his other averages make him a good option in deeper leagues and dynasties. He’ll need to score a touch more and more consistently for me to heavily consider adding him in standard leagues.
