Last week, I wrote about a breakout fantasy basketball player for each team in the Eastern and Western conferences.

Today, we’re going to name a fantasy MVP from every team. Some of these will be rather obvious, but some of my picks will surprise you. We’ll start with the Eastern Conference again.

Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum will be the Celtics’ top fantasy player for this upcoming season. Jaylen Brown is in the running, but he doesn’t fill the stat sheet like Tatum does.

Brooklyn Nets

I’ll take Cam Thomas from the Nets. His scoring is what’s going to allow him to be the team’s top fantasy player, and I expect his scoring average to go up given the team’s offseason moves.

New York Knicks

Jalen Brunson should pretty easily be the Knicks’ top fantasy player. Karl-Anthony Towns could factor in, but Brunson would likely need to miss a good chunk of the season not to easily be the team’s top option.

Philadelphia 76ers

I’ll say Tyrese Maxey is the top fantasy player in Philadelphia. Joel Embiid will have the highest fantasy point-per-game average, but Maxey will play so many more games that he’ll end up outscoring Embiid by the end of the season. Paul George was another option, but his injury will hold him back from that.

Toronto Raptors

I have Scottie Barnes being the top Raptors’ fantasy player this season. Injuries held him back last season, but he still led the team. If he’s healthy, Barnes should easily be the team’s top fantasy option.

Chicago Bulls

I’ll take Nikola Vucevic from the Bulls. I wanted to take Coby White, but with Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball around, plus Josh Giddey thrown in, White’s numbers from last season could be negatively altered a bit.

Cleveland Cavaliers

I’ll take Donovan Mitchell from the Cavs. He’s the clear, top offensive leader for Cleveland, and that should help him outproduce Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland.

Detroit Pistons

Cade Cunningham is my pick from the Pistons. With a better team around him, I see Cunningham enjoying a more productive all-around season. The only thing that should slow him is injuries.

Indiana Pacers

I’ll take Pascal Siakam from the Pacers. Tyrese Haliburton is most people’s choice, but Siakam has better all-around numbers actually. The actual fantasy MVP will probably come down to who plays the most games between the two.

Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the obvious choice from Milwaukee. I think Damian Lilliard is in store for a better second season with the Bucks, but it’ll be hard to match Antetokounmpo if they play a similar number of games because Giannis can do it all.

Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is my fantasy MVP from the Hawks. I think Jalen Johnson is going to turn heads and challenge Young for that top spot, but I think Young will average enough points to overcome a more well-rounded effort from Johnson.

Charlotte Hornets

I’ll take a swing here and say Brandon Miller leads the team from a fantasy perspective. It’s hard to trust LaMelo Ball after all his injuries, and I think Miller takes a big enough leap forward to overtake him and Miles Bridges.

Miami Heat

I’ll roll with Bam Adebayo from the Heat. He tends to play more games than Jimmy Butler, and that should be his biggest competition from a fantasy perspective. I also like the Heat’s backcourt more, and I think guys like Terry Rozier and Tyler Herro eat into Butler’s averages more than Adebayo’s.

Orlando Magic

Paolo Banchero should lead the way for the Magic again. I gave Franz Wagner some consideration, but Banchero is a more well-rounded option, and even if Wagner outscores him this season, I don’t think it’ll be enough to overcome the extra rebounds and assists Banchero has.

Washington Wizards

I think Kyle Kuzma is the Washington fantasy MVP this season. Jonas Valanciunas could challenge him for that honor, but I think Kuzma does enough to eke out a few more points over the course of the season.
