Fantasy Football Wide Receiver & Tight End Start/Sit Week 4: Should You Start Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson, Jake Ferguson?
The importance of knowing who to start and who to sit can make or break a fantasy week and your matchup. People like to say “Start your studs,” and typically speaking, that is the way to go, especially early in the season, but sometimes a player's matchup gives them more value in a certain week. On the flip side, a player can also have a poor matchup that could give you a reason to bench them.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 4 Starts
Elijah Moore, Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens
After his performance in Week 3, Moore should be strongly considered for a start this week. He saw a team-high nine targets, catching all of them for 49 yards, and the Browns even gave him three rushing attempts too. Deshaun Watson looked great at QB for the first time all season as well, and with Nick Chubb out for the season, the Browns will throw the ball more moving forward. We saw it in Week 3, it was successful, and it will continue. The Ravens' pass defense overall is ranked well; however, they have allowed a lot of fantasy points to wide receivers this season, ranking 24th vs. the position. Both Moore and Amari Cooper are in for a big day, and if you play in deeper formats, Donovan Peoples-Jones is also worth a look.
Tank Dell, Houston Texans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
He may not even be rostered in shallower leagues, but after his past two weeks, that won’t be the case once waivers/FAAB runs this week. The Texans are a team that will be playing from behind a lot this season and will be forced to go to their aerial attack because of it. Nico Collins has looked good so far, and Robert Woods has provided a reliable target on key downs for CJ Stroud, but it’s the rookie Tank Dell who has really impressed me the most. Dell has seen 17 targets over the past two weeks, catching 12 of them for 217 yards and two TDs. The Steelers' defense is good, which in theory would be a reason not to start Dell this week, but the Steelers have allowed a lot of catches and yards to WRs this season, and Dell’s target share makes him worthy of a start no matter whom he is facing.
Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Week 4 Sits
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs
He was on this list last week, and because of how terrible Zach Wilson and the Jets' offense looks currently, Garrett Wilson has to be benched once again. If you play in deeper leagues, you cannot bench Wilson because a bad game from him is still close to double-digit points in PPR formats; however, in a 10 or 12-team league, around 10 points from this guy isn’t going to help you win a week. The Jets are going to be one of the league’s worst and lowest-scoring offenses as long as Zach Wilson is under center and what makes matters worse for Garrett Wilson this week is that he faces a Chiefs defense that has been great against the pass so far this year.
Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
Even in a big win in Week 3, Rondale Moore’s involvement and production in the passing game was nearly non-existent. He saw six targets and caught four passes, but he totaled just eight yards on his receptions. The one big play he did make was on a rushing attempt that he took 45 yards to the end zone. It looked good and it helped fantasy managers in Week 3, but it’s not something we can expect to see every week. When you consider his lack of production in the passing game and that he takes on a really good 49ers team this weekend, Moore is better left on your benches.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 4 Starts
Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
LaPorta has gone from a fringe starter in shallow leagues to a must-start option in all formats. He is heavily involved in the Lions' offense and looks to be Jared Goff’s number-two option behind Amon Ra St. Brown. In Week 3, LaPorta saw 11 targets, catching eight of them for 84 yards and a TD. He will look to build off that in Week 4 against the division-rival Packers.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Houston Texans
Freiermuth finally had a fantasy-relevant day in Week 3, and it’s no coincidence that it was also the first game this season that the Steelers' passing game wasn’t awful. He caught three passes on four targets for 41 yards and a TD and now has a Week 4 matchup vs. the Texans, who rank 23rd this season against the TE position. Until now, it would have been hard for me to suggest starting “Muth,” but now that the Steelers look to have figured out how to pass the football, Muth is once again a player you should start with confidence and who should be a top-10 TE in fantasy most weeks.
Fantasy Football Tight End Week 4 Sits
Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots
It’s been a few weeks now that we have been able to see this Cowboys offense operate, and one thing I have noticed is that even though they try to get Ferguson involved, he hasn’t been able to make plays when his catches are contested by a defender. That alone limits his upside on a week-to-week basis, and I think he should be kept on your benches until he proves that he can fight through defenders and make tough catches. I still like Tony Pollard, Dak Prescott, and the WRs for the Cowboys, I’m just out on Ferguson for the time being.
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos
I’m not sure that any Bears offensive player can be trusted right now, and that even goes for Justin Fields in one-QB and shallow leagues. Even though they face a Broncos team that just allowed 70 points to the Dolphins, their entire offense looks terrible through the first three weeks, and it’s just way too hard to trust anyone on their roster. Keep Kmet and the rest of the Bears on your bench until they show any signs of life.
