Week 7 Fantasy Football RB and WR Droppables: Should you drop Dameon Pierce, Rachaad White, and Jerry Jeudy?
We're always looking to make moves in fantasy football, and this is going to be a weekly spot where we look at some of the most widely-dropped players across fantasy leagues and decide whether you should (or shouldn’t) cut bait with them – due to either underperformance, injury, or otherwise.
We covered waiver adds already, but in order to pick up someone, you have to drop someone. And that isn’t a decision you should take lightly. We’ve all made drops we’ve come to regret.
With six teams on a bye week during Week 7, roster spots will be incredibly important. While some of the players I cover below may sound ridiculous as drops at first glance, we're six weeks into the fantasy season and it's starting to get late early. Let's dig in and look at some hot-button running backs and wide receivers for Week 7 and decide if they’re actually drop-worthy.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Droppables
Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans
It may seem crazy to have Pierce here based on his draft position, but he's only averaging 8.6 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues. While I think it's worth holding onto him due to the upside he showed last year, Pierce would be considered droppable if we didn't know who he was and we were just looking at his stats. He's only averaging 2.9 yards per carry, doesn't see much usage in the passing game, and has only scored one touchdown all year. With Devin Singletary seeing 12 snaps to Pierce's 13 this past week, it's time to at least downgrade Pierce in terms of weekly expectations (while still holding him on your roster for now).
Verdict: Hold
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Similarly to Pierce, White might be considered droppable if we were only looking at his stats and not considering his draft position. Through five games, he's averaging just 10.6 fantasy poitns per game in PPR leagues and is coming off a seven-carry for 26 rushing yard performance this past week. Ke'Shawn Vaughn has also seen his usage creep up, so that's something to keep an eye on as well. All that said, White sees enough usage in the Buccaneers' passing game to provide a relatively high floor as he's caught at least three balls in each of his last four games. I'm not as high on him as I was to begin the season, but White is worth holding for now.
Verdict: Hold
Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
While I realize he's coming off a serious injury (and a more recent minor injury), Williams is having a really tough go of things to begin the 2023 season. Some of the lack of production stems from the fact that the Broncos are often playing from behind, but some of the blame has to fall at Williams' feet too. While he's seeing some usage as a pass catcher, he hasn't carried the ball more than 13 times in a game all season and has yet to put up double-digit fantasy points in PPR leagues. Rookie Jaleel McLaughlin's emergence hasn't help matters either as he cut into Williams' usage this past weekend. While Williams is worth keeping in deeper leagues, I'd be ok dropping him for a priority waiver add if you need the spot. He's a very risky week-to-week starter right now.
Verdict: Drop
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Denver Broncos
Sticking in Denver, Jeudy has been outproduced by the likes of Rashee Rice, Zay Jones, and Robert Woods on a weekly average basis. That's extremely disappointing for a player who many were taking in the middle rounds of drafts not all that long ago. Averaging just 8.4 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues, Jeudy is seeing consistent usage between five and seven targets every game, but that's not exactly elite usage either. He's yet to find the end zone all season and has topped 52 yards just once all season. While it might sound ridiculous, I think it's fair to cut bait with Jeduy if you're trying to add someone who fills in a RB/TE need. He's got talent, but he's becoming a cement anchor for his fantasy rosters.
Verdict: Drop
Jahan Dotson, WR, Washington Commanders
I hate to say it, but Dotson just isn't living up to preseason expectations and has become just another guy at this point. While many (myself included) thought he'd be a solid 1A/1B alongside Terry McLaurin, Dotson has become more of a 2A/2B/2C alongside Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas -- and is arguably the 2C among that trio. While the targets were there earlier in the sason, Dotson saw just one target in Week 6 and has only seen six total targets over his last two games. There's obvious upside here, but an average of 6.2 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues leaves Dotson as droppable if you need the waiver spot.
Verdict: Drop
