Fantasy Football Snap & Target Report Week 8: Sam LaPorta, Stefon Diggs, Jahmyr Gibbs
Last week, I pointed out that stats can be misleading. Following which receivers are getting the lion's share of targets is important, and it’s important to watch for trends if a receiver’s numbers are going up or down. But it’s even more important to watch out for those receivers who are converting those targets into receptions. When you can find those receivers who are not only being targeted but also have a high catch %, you’ve found fantasy nirvana.

Fantasy Football Snap & Target Report Week 8
This week, 23 receivers were targeted 10 or more times. Of those 23, just nine had a completion percentage of 80% or higher. And of those nine, four were TE’s.
Here they are:
Fantasy Football Target Leaders Week 8
- TE Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars: Engram had 88 receiving yards and was a perfect 10 for 10 this week, catching every target thrown his way by Trevor Lawrence.
- TE Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears: Similar to Engram, Kmet was a perfect 10 for 10, with 79 receiving yards. Although neither let a ball hit the ground, neither found the end zone either. This can be a trend with tight ends, who have high catch percentages but not many explosive plays thanks to a low ADOT.
- WR CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys: Unlike Engram and Kmet, Lamb did find paydirt … twice. He caught 12 out of 14 passes for 158 yards and was a difference-maker and complete game-wrecker. For the season, he has an amazing 82% catch percentage, with 46 catches.
- WR Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals: In so many ways, the Bengals go as Ja’Marr Chase goes. He is absolutely the straw that stirs the drink for the team. He caught 10 out of 12 passes for 100 yards and a TD. For the season, he is tied for fourth in catches with 60 and seventh with 656 yards.
- TE George Kittle, San Fransisco 49ers: Without Deebo Samuel, Kittle’s production has increased. On Sunday, he caught nine of 11 targets for a whopping 149 yards. But like Engram and Kmet, he didn’t score a TD. Only Sam LaPorta was able to find the endzone of the TEs on this list.
- WR Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders: Dotson wasn’t targeted the most on the Commanders; Terry McLaurin was. Dotson was targeted 10 times, while McLaurin had 12 targets. However, Dotson was more efficient with eight catches, 108 yards and a TD. McLaurin only had five catches for 63 yards. For the season, McLaurin is the clear WR1 with 42 catches to only 30 for Dotson.
- WR K.J. Osborn, Minnesota Vikings: With Justin Jefferson on the shelf, K.J. Osborn has been getting the lion's share of snaps and has now emerged with the most on the season, with 474. On Sunday, he caught eight out of 10 targets for 99 yards. Unfortunately for Osborn and the rest of the Vikings, Kirk Cousins is out for the year, which will reduce their production greatly.
- WR Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers: With Mike Williams out for the year, Allen is the clear WR1 for the Chargers. On Sunday, he caught eight out of 10 passes. For the season, he’s eighth in receptions, with 54, and receiving yards, with 643.
- TE Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions: LaPorta is having an amazing year for any TE, nevermind that he’s a rookie. He was on the field for 81 snaps, most among all receivers, and caught eight out of 10 passes for 57 yards and a TD.
Army of One: Stefon Diggs Target Report
In the last four weeks, there is exactly one receiver who has been targeted 10 or more times each week: Stefon Diggs. And with his 12 targets this week, he has overtaken the lead for the most overall targets among all receivers, with 90. He also leads all receivers with 64 catches and a very solid 71% catch percentage. He’s fourth with 748 yards and third in TDs with six.
RBs On The Rise
Over the last few weeks, two RBs have gotten an increased role with more touches.
Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions: The rookie Gibbs is getting a larger and larger role each week with David Montgomery out due to injury. On Monday night he played 60 snaps, touching the ball just over 50% of the plays, with 31 touches. He had 26 rushes with 152 yards and a TD. He also caught five out of five targets for an additional 37 yards.
Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos: Williams' increased role has gone hand in hand with the Broncos' recent success. He touched the ball two-thirds of the time he was on the field on Sunday, 30 times on 45 snaps. He had 27 rushes for 85 yards, along with three catches for 13 yards and a TD. Three weeks ago, he only had 10 touches, and two weeks ago, it increased to 18. As Williams gets back to full health, it seems HC Sean Payton is getting a handle on his offense and letting his best RB work.
