Week 13 Fantasy Football RB and WR Droppables: Should you drop Khalil Herbert, Gus Edwards, and Jerry Jeudy?
We're always looking to make moves in fantasy football, and this is going to be a weekly spot where we look at some of the most widely-dropped players across fantasy leagues and decide whether you should (or shouldn’t) cut bait with them – due to either underperformance, injury, or otherwise.
We covered waiver adds already, but in order to pick up someone, you have to drop someone. And that isn’t a decision you should take lightly. We’ve all made drops we’ve come to regret.
Let’s take a look at some of the most dropped running backs and wide receivers for Week 13 and decide if they’re actually drop-worthy.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Droppables
Khalil Herbert, RB, Chicago Bears
Herbert was poised for a big Week 12 coming off a 16-carry Week 11 and a missing D'Onta Foreman out. However, he only saw eight total touches against the Vikings and saw rookie Roschon Johnson out-touch him. Foreman looks like he'll be back for Week 14 (the Bears have a Week 13 bye), so things are very very muddy here. The Bears also have a Week 15 matchup against a tough Browns defense, which makes Herbert a tough hold as we move into the fantasy playoffs. You obviously shouldn't just outright drop him in deeper leagues, I don't see a scenario where he should be a starting fantasy player in Weeks 14 and 15. He can be dropped if you need the roster spot.
Verdict: Drop
Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Edwards had a few great weeks from Week 7 to Week 11, but the wheels seemingly fell off on Monday night. With rookie Keaton Mitchell getting more and more integrated into the Ravens' offense, Edwards may have seen his days of double-digit carries end. That said, Edwards scored nine rushing touchdowns in the Ravens' previous five games leading up to Week 12, so he still has flex potential. I don't think we should just go out dropping Edwards, but he's a very risky start at this point and his fantasy roster spot is hanging on by a thread.
Verdict: Hold
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Denver Broncos
Jeudy has yet to put up WR2 numbers in a game all season. Let that sink in. I could probably end this blurb there, but I'll expound. Jeudy is WR55 on the year and has scored just one touchdown all season. He hasn't topped 64 receiving yards in a game since Week 3 and has seen just three targets in two of the Broncos' three games since their Week 9 bye. Jeudy is nothing more than a weekly Hail Mary and is too risky to start as we head into the fantasy playoffs. If you need a roster spot due to the massive amount of Week 13 byes, Jeudy can be dropped.
Verdict: Drop
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks
The first receiver selected in the 2023 NFL Draft sadly hasn't lived up to those lofty expectations in terms of fantasy production. While JSN has show flashes at points this season, he only has two touchdowns on the year and hasn't topped six catches or 63 yards in a game all year. Geno Smith has taken a bit of a step backwards this year and that (combined with the presence of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett) unfortunately limits JSN's upside. While there's a chance the rookie could take a jump over the next few weeks, he's way too risky to rely upon as a starter for your fantasy playoffs and shouldn't be anymore more than a bench player -- if you even keep him.
Verdict: Drop
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While Godwin has been consistently seeing 6-8 targets per game, his fantasy production has unfortunately been consistenly average. He's only scored one touchdown all year and hasn't topped 54 receiving yards since Week 7. He's scored less than 10 fantasy points in four straight games and will now likely be catching passing from Kyle Trask. And that, my friends, is not a good things. While Godwin has a decent schedule coming up, his upside is capped as long as he isn't scoring touchdowns so he's nothing more than a borderline flex play at this point. I wouldn't just drop him out of spite or anything like that, but he's not a must-keep at this point either.
Verdict: Drop
