Best Fantasy Football FAAB Pickups Week 16
QB Nick Mullens, Minnesota Vikings
Mullens threw for over 300 yards and two TD passes in the Vikings' OT loss to the Bengals in Week 15. It was his first start of the season, so all things considered, it went very well. He has plenty of pass-catching weapons, especially with Justin Jefferson back and healthy, and the Vikings are in the playoff mix in the NFC, so there’s something to play for every game. Mullens should be picked up in any Superflex league, and he should be considered as a start this week against an inconsistent Lions defense. He, along with all the QBs on the list this week, should go for 25-35% of your remaining FAAB.
QB Jake Browning, Cincinnati Bengals
Browning looks like he’s been the starter all season long. He is very comfortable in this Bengals' offense and is benefiting from having two star-caliber WRs in Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. It is worth noting that Chase left the Week 15 game with an injury so you will want to monitor that. In their Week 15 win, Browning threw for 324 yards and two TDs; he will face the Steelers this week, who just allowed 30 points to the Colts.
QB Aidan O’Connell, Las Vegas Raiders
His matchup with a Chargers team that is a huge mess right now definitely played a huge role in his massive Week 15 performance, yet that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be praised for his amazing play. The Raiders scored 63 points, aided by O’Connell’s four TD passes. Davante Adams and youngster Tre Tucker both had good games catching the football.
RB Tyler Goodson/Trey Sermon Indianapolis Colts
With Jonathan Taylor out and Zack Moss getting injured early, it was Goodson and Sermon who combined for 28 carries for 157 yards. Goodson also caught two passes and averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per carry. I would make him the priority add of these two backs, however, Sermon should be the backup bid to him. They may only be worthy of a start for one week, so don’t bid too much, but 8-12% of your remaining FAAB is fine.
RB Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
With Alexander Mattison underwhelming for most of the year, the career performance by Chandler in Week 15 is very noteworthy. He is a must-add and should be the main back in Minnesota heading into next week even if Mattison is healthy. The Vikings' offense is very good, and with so many weapons in the passing game, Chandler doesn’t go up against many stacked boxes and should have plenty of room to run. I’m spending 60% of my remaining FAAB on him.
RB Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears
A hyped rookie coming into the season, Johnson has been basically non-existent in fantasy this season. He does get used in the pass game, though, and he was the top rusher for the Bears in Week 15 against a tough Browns defense. He could be the Bears' lead back for the remainder of the year as they look to see if he can be their RB of the future, so a bid in the range of 30-40% of your remaining FAAB isn’t outrageous if you need RB help.
