Fantasy Football 2024 ADP Fallers: Aaron Rodgers, Austin Ekeler, Stefon Diggs, Travis Kelce and More
These are the players whose performances in 2023 will cause their ADP to drop in 2024.
The fantasy season is over so now it's on to 2024. Mock drafts are already taking place. It was a great season for us, but it wasn't for the players that we drafted. There are plenty of players who had a down year for whatever reason and it will cause their ADP to drop in 2024 from where it was in 2023.
Quarterbacks
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
There was a ton of hype surrounding Rodgers's fantasy prospects heading into 2023 that we didn't quite understand. He was on all our fade lists for numerous reasons that all came to fruition almost immediately when he blew out his Achilles Week 1 behind a horrific Jets' offensive line. Now he is a year older and coming off a major injury that ends the career of plenty of young players. That Jets' line more than likely won't be significantly better either which could be the biggest issue of all. Even prior to this year's debacle, he wasn't good in 2022. The last time Rodgers threw for 300 yards in a game was December 12, 2021. There is no reason to believe he will suddenly be better in 2024.
Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
T-Law was the guy that fantasy experts had pegged to make that jump to superstar in 2023. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and he was arguably the most disappointing quarterback of the season. He took a massive step back from where he was at the end of 2022 and didn't even finish as a QB1 this season. Worst of all, he was particularly bad down the stretch. Only twice all year did he throw for over 300 yards and the last time was Week 5. His one and only three-TD performance was marred by three interceptions. The Jags, who were in line for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, losing their last five games and missing the playoffs didn't help matters either.
Running Backs
Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers
Ekeler fell off a cliff this season and looked terrible. It wasn't just a matter of having to play with a backup quarterback. He looked like he suddenly lost a step and once again dealt with injuries early on in the season. His season ended with him being the RB31 overall. Over his last eight games, he scored just one TD and fumbled four times. The exclamation point on his disastrous season was in Week 18 when he carried the ball 10 times for just 11 yards on 1.1 yards per carry.
Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans
What happened here? We did not expect Pierce to be a disaster this season and for Devin Singletary to outperform him to the point that he couldn't get on the field. If you told anyone before the season how good C.J. Stroud and the Texans' offense was going to be then Pierce may have been close to a first-round pick. That is not how it played out at all. He finished as the RB50, right behind Samaje Perine. In 13 games he totaled 416 yards and two TDs on 2.6 yards per carry. His final stat line in the Divisional Round of the playoffs was zero carries, zero targets and one fumble. That's the lasting memory fantasy owners have heading into 2024.
Wide Receivers
Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills
Diggs is another guy, like Ekeler, who fell off a cliff during the season. This is the second straight year that his fantasy production saw a massive drop off as the season wore on. There is a direct correlation between the firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and Diggs' fall from grace. However, he still saw a ton of targets and air yards, but couldn't do anything with them. After Week 10 he was completely useless and a detriment to fantasy owners who felt compelled to start him. In his four games in December, when fantasy owners needed him most, he turned 31 targets into 17 receptions for 127 yards and no TDs. That was a game for him when he was at his best and not a particularly good one. Needless to say, he's dead to a lot of fantasy owners after that.
Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
It's time to end all hope for Williams. Every year we hear about what he could do if he just stayed healthy. Well, he never stays healthy and isn't the guy his truthers claim he is when he does. It's done, it's over. We don't want to hear his name this draft season as anything other than an afterthought. Give it a rest.
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
The playoffs could boost Kelce's ADP up a bit from where it was going to be a few weeks ago, but he hurt a lot of fantasy teams this year. His days as a first-round pick are long gone. Like Ekeler and Diggs, his production plummeted as we got late into the season. It looked like he had lost a step. This makes sense because he will turn 35 years old early next October. I believe we will hear something in a month or two about how he was playing through injury. That's all well and good, but he should no longer be drafted in the first three rounds.
