Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Buy Now Before Their Value Rises: Jayden Daniels, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson and More
Identifying fantasy quarterbacks to target before training camp opens.
NFL Training Camp is almost upon us, and once it kicks off many player's fantasy values will start to shift drastically. This could be due to a standout or poor performance, unexpected opportunities, or just buzz from the media and coaches. These players are guys whose value is only going to skyrocket from here. So no matter what format you are playing, find a way to get these on your rosters now because their price will never be lower. First we will focus on the quarterbacks.
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Daniels is the best quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. Once he gets on the field and the media gets a glimpse of him and how the offense looks with him running it, the hype train will be in full force.
By the time August hits, he will start to be drafted as a QB1 in all formats. Now that they have a real NFL quarterback, Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson are going to immediately remind the world how talented they are.
Combine that with the fact that there's a real chance that this team adds another stud wideout like Brandon Aiyuk and Daniels' stock is going to soar. We also have no doubt that the coaches will confirm that he looks incredible and is the locked-in Week 1 starter.
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
We have been critical of Rodgers and the Jets and we stand by that. Currently, he is being drafted as the QB20. However, if you are someone who believes in Rodgers, then now is the time to pick him up.
The news has been negative on him thus far due to him selfishly skipping mandatory minicamp due to a previously planned engagement. Once he gets on the field, the world can't help but buy into and hype up both the Jets and Rodgers. The media will say how he looks healthy and ready to roll.
The coaches jobs depend on him so we know they'll be singing his praises to a nauseating degree. Of course, there are also people who just can't get past the name and the player he once was. He'll climb at least into the top 15 in ADP by the time most leagues are drafting.
Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons
All Cousins has to do is show he's healthy and have the coaches confirm that he'll be the Week 1 starter for his value to leap considerably. Both those things will likely happen very early on once camp starts.
It won't take long after that for fantasy owners to fit the pieces together that he's been a consistently productive fantasy quarterback for a long time and he may now have the best or one of the best young corps of weapons in the league. Those are all hard points to argue.
The blame has all been laid at the feet of poor quarterback play in Atlanta and never the players themselves for underperforming based on their perceived talent level. The assumption is clear that with a viable starting QB, Drake London, Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts should explode this season. Cousins will be the beneficiary of their explosion as much as anybody.
Will Levis, Tennessee Titans
This is a big, strong, young quarterback with a bunch of new weapons who will thrive in practice due to his physical traits. Expect to hear comparisons to a young Josh Allen with growing hype around guys like DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard and Chigoziem Okonkwo.
Whether his practice play will translate into regular season success is something we are very skeptical of. Nevertheless, at the moment he's being drafted as a QB3 or a very late QB2 in most leagues. Look for him to jump up inside the top 20 by the time preseason hits.
An unpolished inaccurate quarterback rarely develops into a stud starter. More often than not, they usually become turnover machines who occasionally flash with an incredible highlight but ultimately fall flat on their face. With that said Allen has given fantasy owners hope that they cannot ignore.
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert is currently being drafted as about the QB18 right now. There is no chance that trend will continue. Coming off a down year and losing his top three weapons has tanked his current value. You'll see that change drastically and quickly this July.
Fantasy owners have fallen too in love with his big arm and upside to allow him to fall as far as he's falling now. This may be a case of the name having more value than the production, but as soon as we get reports about how great one of his wideouts looks his stock will start climbing. There is no doubt that he will end up as a fringe QB2 by the time we get near the end of the preseason.
Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
This is just a matter of finding out who the starter is in Pittsburgh and when Week 1 kicks off it will be Wilson. Mike Tomlin always has the Steelers in win-now mode and he will believe the veteran gives him the best chance at another run at the playoffs.
George Pickens is going to be viewed as a potential breakout star and Russ will be the guy throwing him the ball. Right now, Wilson is being drafted just inside the top 30 QBs. Once he's locked in as the guy in Pittsburgh he'll be sitting right around the QB25 spot.
