After taking a look at the top fantasy players from the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, it’s now time to discuss the New York Jets.

Check back soon for more team previews. Of course, things will change between now and the start of the season, and FantasySP will cover any major changes when those happen.

Aaron Rodgers Fantasy Outlook

Rodgers’ highly-anticipated season with the Jets ended after just four offensive plays.

There’s no denying what Rodgers has done over the course of his career, but many people are wondering how a 40-year-old quarterback can bounce back from a major injury. If the Jets can protect Rodgers, there’s no reason why he couldn’t serve as one of the top fantasy quarterbacks in the game again.

While there’s a lot of talk around Rodgers, it hasn’t led to fantasy owners drafting him all that highly yet. He’s the 19th quarterback taken, going around pick 129.

A talent like Rodgers is always worth a pick at that point of a draft, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see his ADP rise a good bit before the season kicks off. Personally, if he goes much earlier than his current mark, I’d prefer to pass on the 40-year-old for a younger option who isn’t coming off a major injury.

Running Back Fantasy Outlooks

Breece Hall is the Jets’ go-to running back. Even coming off a major injury himself, he had a spectacular sophomore season.

In 17 games, Hall rushed for 994 yards and five touchdowns. He caught 76 of his 95 targets for an additional 591 yards and four scores.

Hall’s season was fantastic, and to have done that without Rodgers back there has fantasy owners daydreaming of a monster 2024 season. Of course, a competent quarterback behind him might mean less checkdowns to Hall, but that should be offset by the space opened in the running game because of the threat of Rodgers’ passing.

Braelon Allen looks poised to serve as the top backup after being drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Isaiah Davis was picked in the fifth round this year and is another option. Israel Abanikanda was a fifth-round pick a year ago and is another RB option.

While Hall can’t handle every touch and snap, I’d be pretty surprised if any of the three backup backs carve out a role big enough to be relevant in fantasy football. The only way Allen, Davis or Abanikanda should be starting is in really deep leagues or if Hall has to miss any games.

Hall is not only one of the top fantasy running backs this season, but is also viewed as one of the best fantasy players overall. He’s fifth among all players (second among backs).

I’m not quite as high on Hall as others are, but I still think he’s a top-10 fantasy pick for sure. If he stays healthy, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be a top-10 fantasy player overall and top three fantasy RB.

Allen is the 57th RB off draft boards right now, going around pick 182. Abanikanda is the 93rd back, while Davis is the 96th back, going between picks 390-392 overall.

Again, I’d prefer to use a late-round fantasy pick on a player who has a chance at a decent offensive role, so I’d prefer to see the three New York backup RBs as waiver wire options to start the season. In deeper leagues, Hall could be handcuffed by Allen, with Davis and Abanikanda probably being waiver wire options in those leagues too.

Wide Receiver Fantasy Outlooks

Garrett Wilson is back as the Jets’ top option. Mike Williams was added during the offseason, as was Malachi Corley as a third-round draft pick. Xavier Gipson and Allen Lazard are returnees from last year’s team.

In Wilson’s second NFL season, he caught 95 of his 168 targets for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns.

It was a disappointing season for the fantasy owners who drafted Wilson early last season, but the hype for Wilson is there again this season with Rodgers back at quarterback. Wilson showed he could still be starting material without Rodgers back there, so there should be a touch more confidence in taking Wilson this year.

Williams has dealt with injuries most of his career and is coming off an ACL tear last season. He’s starting this season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but could be ready to go by week 1.

Williams was a strong No. 2 option when healthy with the Chargers over his career and could be that again with New York behind Wilson. There’s definitely risk in taking Williams, but his injury concerns have driven his ADP way down this season, so he might be worth the risk.

Lazard was brought to the Jets as one of Rodgers’ favorite targets from the Packers. Without Rodgers around, Lazard struggled last year. He had 23 catches on his 49 targets for just 311 yards and a touchdown across 14 games played.

Lazard won’t likely serve a big offensive role unless a receiver or two are injured. Still, as one of Rodgers’ favorite targets, he could be stream worthy at points this season.

Gibson played in 17 games in his rookie season, but it was mostly in a secondary role. He had 21 grabs on 38 targets for 229 yards and no touchdowns as a wideout. Gibson added 68 yards and a score on eight rushing attempts.

If your league rewards returners, Gibson figures to be the team’s kick and punt returner. He had a punt return touchdown last season, along with 319 punt return yards and 511 kick return yards.

Corley had back-to-back strong seasons to cap his college career. He looks to have a secondary role at this point, but could be thrust into a bigger role right away if there’s injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.

Wilson is the Jets’ receiver you want to target this year. He’s the eighth WR off draft boards and going in the top 15 picks so far. If Rodgers stays healthy, there’s no reason why Wilson shouldn’t be a top-10 fantasy wideout. I’m curious to see if his ADP rises as the season nears and hype builds, because I am most comfortable taking him around his current pick and wouldn’t want him much earlier.

Williams is the 53rd WR off draft boards, going around pick 131 right now. That late in a fantasy draft, the potential outweighs and injury concerns you might have, and makes Williams a great value pick.

New York’s other receivers are all outside the top 100 WRs. They are options in deeper leagues and dynasties, but shouldn't be trusted outside of an occasional spot start.

Tight End Fantasy Outlooks

Tyler Conklin is the Jets’ top tight end, while Jeremy Ruckert is the top backup right now.

Conklin caught 61 of his 87 targets a season ago for 621 yards but no touchdowns. He had similar yardage outputs in 2021 and 2022, but with three touchdowns each season.

There’s a few mouths to feed now on offense, but with Rodgers at quarterback, Conklin could be a sneaky fantasy player.

Ruckert had 16 grabs on 22 targets for 151 yards and no scores last season. He’ll likely have a reserve role again this season, and only be fantasy relevant if Conklin goes down for an extended period.

Conklin is the 22nd TE off fantasy draft boards, going around pick 181 right now. He’s probably going to be a waiver wire option in most standard leagues to start the season, but is certainly worth a pick in deeper leagues.
