Dynasty Players Rebuilding Owners Should Consider Moving - NFC North Edition | Aaron Jones, Jared Goff, Josh Jacobs, Keenan Allen and More
Identifying some dynasty players who should maybe be moved by rebuilding teams.
In a redraft fantasy football league, starting the season poorly can simply lead to inactive owners. In dynasty leagues, owners cannot afford to slack off.
Now that we are a decent way into the season, most dynasty teams know which way their team is trending - title contenders, playoff hopefuls or rebuilders. It might take another week or so for you to know for sure which direction you're headed, so consider this article as a nice little head start.
I’m going to go division by division and highlight some players who might be worth selling if you are in the rebuilding category. Let’s jump right in, starting with the NFC North.

Minnesota Vikings
In deeper leagues, Sam Darnold should definitely be a fantasy player that dynasty owners are looking to sell high on.
He’s started the season hot and is actually in the MVP conversation right now. Darnold doesn’t have a long history of success, so selling the 27-year-old now makes the most sense.
Contending teams can always use help, and Darnold might be outplaying their QB options right now. You won’t get a huge return for Darnold, but I’d definitely try to sell him instead of hoping this level of play continues into future seasons.
Aaron Jones is another player I’d be looking to sell right now. Unfortunately, he is now injured, so his trade value took a hit, so it might be wise to wait for him to play another game before trying to deal him away.
Jones is 29 years old and probably only has a couple more solid seasons in him. Fantasy teams are always looking for more RB help, and Jones can definitely provide them with some solid play once he’s back from his injury. See if you can flip Jones for a younger back or some future draft assets.
T.J. Hockenson is another name to mention, but not until he returns to the field. He still hasn’t played this season, but if he has a big game or two early on after returning, I’d try to flip Hockenson for some younger assets.
Detroit Lions
Jared Goff is another QB that rebuilding dynasty teams should try to part with.
He’s 30 years old, and probably has several more seasons ahead of him, but Goff also isn’t a top-end fantasy option, and instead of holding on to an average option, I’d try to move him for some future help instead.
Maybe you could target a rookie quarterback, or simply chase some future draft picks. I’d rather look toward the future than hold Goff.
Running back David Montgomery is the other Lion I’d try to trade. He’s 27 years old, but probably will never be a lead back for a team again.
Montgomery has a great role right now with the Lions, which makes him a pretty valuable fantasy player, and someone who you should cash in on now. I really don’t think his value will ever be as high as it is now, as wear and tear will eventually take a toll.
Make sure you get a good deal in return for Montgomery. Even though he’s not a starting back right now, he’s performing better than a lot of No. 1 guys - also try to get some kind of RB help in return.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have a very young offense, so there’s not many players I’d really want to trade away.
I’d consider moving Josh Jacobs though. He’s 26 years old and probably has a couple more solid seasons ahead, but things can also spiral downward quickly for backs, so I’d be OK at least dangling his name out there.
I prefer to sell players a bit before they start declining, and I think Jacobs is about to start his decline (if he hasn’t already). You still should be able to acquire a decent return for the Packers’ lead back, and I’d try to do that now instead of waiting another year.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have a pretty young offense too, but still have more trade options than the Packers.
The top one would be Keenan Allen, who is 32 years old. He hasn’t performed very well this season, so I’d prefer to wait for him to post a couple solid showings before making the move.
If you don’t think Allen is capable of getting going this season, maybe someone has a little faith in him and would still trade for him. The return won’t be anything crazy, but I’d rather have some future assets than Allen basically wasting a roster spot at this point.
D.J. Moore is the Bears’ receiver you could get a pretty good haul for. He’s 27, so he still should have some solid seasons ahead of him, but he also doesn’t seem destined to be a No. 1 receiver anymore with some of his inconsistent showings this season.
I’m not a huge believer in Moore long term, but there’s probably several dynasty owners who do believe in him. I’d rather trade him away now before he gets any older and possibly loses even more of his fantasy/trade value.
D'Andre Swift is another player to consider trading away. He’s just 25 and still has plenty in the tank, but the fact that he’s been on three teams across five NFL seasons is pretty alarming.
He’s topped 1,000 total yards twice in his first four seasons, and had at least 875 total yards in the other two years. It’s not elite production, but it’s helpful to fantasy teams.
Maybe fantasy owners will like that several NFL teams keep bringing him in to be their starter, and you can get a nice return for Swift. I’d prefer to move Swift before teams no longer view him as a starter, which could get here a lot sooner than you might expect.
