Top Fantasy Hitters
There's several New York hitters on the ADP list, led by Aaron Judge. He's going at pick 2.67 on average.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is next, but not until pick 74.73. Cody Bellinger (92.93) is going a little later. Anthony Volpe (142.11), Paul Goldschmidt (172.67) and Jasson Dominguez (182.36) are some other late-round options in standard leagues.
Judge was fantastic across 158 games in 2024.
He had a .322 average, .458 on-base percentage, 58 home runs, 144 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 122 runs scored. It was a nice bounceback season after a 106-game injury-riddled season in 2023.
Judge finished second in fantasy points, trailing only Shohei Ohtani, who is the top pick in just about every fantasy league. Judge would be my second pick after Ohtani, and is a great, well-rounded fantasy player to build around.
Chisholm played in 147 games a season ago, but performed much better with the Yankees than the Marlins (shocker right?).
Chisholm posted a .256 average and .324 OBP. He had 24 homers, 73 RBIs, 40 stolen bases and 74 runs scored.
He'll have position eligibility at least at third base and center field, which bumps his fantasy value up quite a bit. Chisholm feels undervalued looking at his ADP, so I'd love to get him around that pick. He is a daily starter at some position, and could solidify your third base spot, or be a good second fantasy outfielder.
Bellinger was moved to the Yankees after playing 130 games with the Cubs in 2024.
He had a .266 average and .325 OBP, along with 18 homers, 78 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 72 runs scored.
Bellinger has first base and outfield eligibility, so he's another great value pick near his ADP. I think he could thrive in New York, especially if he hits in the heart of the team's lineup. I think he's got a great chance to be a draft steal, and I would be fine taking him as a daily starter at first base - he's a good second or third fantasy outfielder.
Volpe appeared in 160 games last season, after playing in 159 games in his rookie season in 2023.
Last season, Volpe had a .243 average, .293 OBP, 12 homers, 60 RBIs, 28 stolen bases and 90 runs scored. His average and OBP both rose last season, and another jump could take place in his age-23/24 season.
He's at a stacked fantasy shortstop position, and falling outside starting territory (12th at the position). I also like him best as a secondary option, but also believe he could become a daily starter at an additional infield or utility spot - or the SS spot if he breaks out in 2025. Grab him if you took a gamble on a SS in the early rounds.
Goldschmidt gets a change of scenery after struggling over his past two seasons in St. Louis.
In 154 games last season, Goldy had a .245 average and .302 OBP - he has a career .289 average and .381 OBP. That screams bounceback potential, but like I said, he's struggled the past two seasons, and is 37 years old now. Goldy also had 22 homers, 65 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and 70 runs scored last season, so there's some fantasy value to take advantage of.
He's another secondary option at first base, but could end up being a daily starter if he excels with his new team. There's not much risk drafting him that late in a fantasy draft, so if you already gambled on a first basemen, getting Goldy could ease your mind going into the season.
Dominguez is kind of a make-or-break player for New York. After the departure of Juan Soto, getting Dominguez to step up would be massive for the Yanks as they look to come out of the American League again.
Dominguez has played in just 26 MLB games despite debuting in 2023. Injuries derailed his 2024 season. He's a highly-regarded prospect though, so many fantasy owners are high on him going into 2025. In 352 minor league games, he has a .274 average, .373 OBP, 47 homers, 189 RBIs, 102 stolen bases, 255 runs scored, 204 walks and 384 strikeouts.
Getting him late in a standard league draft is fine in my eyes. You are hoping he breaks out and becomes a daily starter, and there's not much risk involved. Nab him if you can, and definitely roster him in deeper leagues.
Other Starting Options
According to FanGraphs, catcher Austin Wells is projected to be the team's leadoff hitter. Ben Rice is another projected starter, but in a platoon with Oswald Peraza. Oswaldo Cabrera is another projected starter.
Alex Jackson is the projected backup catcher, while Dominic Smith and Trent Grisham are other players projected to make the team.
Wells is definitely one to keep an eye on, and I think he could be a big waiver wire target early in the season. Across 115 games in 2024, he had a .229 average, .322 OBP, 13 homers, 55 RBIs, one stolen base and 42 runs scored. Hitting before Judge is a great fantasy spot for any hitter, and Wells could become a daily starter in all league if he can up his average and OBP a bit.
Rice and Peraza are going to have difficult times being more than deep-league options if they are in a platoon. Jackson, Grisham and Smith would need injuries to starters to crack the lineup regularly - I'd keep a closer eye on Grisham.
Cabrera played in 108 games last season, posting a .247 average, .296 OBP, eight homers, 36 RBIs, four stolen bases and 47 runs scored. There's some deep-league value if he's playing everyday, but he'd need to improve his numbers to be a standard league threat.
Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu are two veteran hitters who are hurt to open the season. Both are just deep-league options at this point. There's a chance Stanton misses the entire season, so he's a risky pick in any redraft league. LeMahieu will probably top out as a deep-league option.
Top Prospects
Dominguez is the No. 21 prospect in all of baseball.
Spencer Jones, Everson Pereira and Jorbit Vivas are other top-30 prospects of the team with 2025 ETAs.
Jones has played in 264 minor league games and is an option in the outfield. He has a .270 average, .344 OBP, 37 homers, 156 RBIs, 80 stolen bases, 165 runs scored, 114 walks and 375 strikeouts.
Pereira is another outfielder, but he played in 27 MLB games in 2024. He hit .151 and got on base at a .233 clip. In 331 minor league games, Pereira has a .277 average, .352 OBP, 66 homers, 232 RBIs, 52 stolen bases, 239 runs scored, 138 walks and 428 strikeouts.
Vivas is a second and third baseman with 575 minor league games under his belt. He's posted a .271 average, .377 OBP, 48 homers, 309 RBIs, 82 stolen bases, 383 runs scored, 280 walks and 326 strikeouts so far.
Rafael Flores, Jesus Rodriguez, Omar Martinez, T.J. Rumfield, George Lombard Jr., Roderick Arias and Brennen Davis are other players age 25 or under in camp with the team this year.
