Overvalued Week 7 Fantasy Football FAAB Players: Ray Davis, Keenan Allen, Sean Tucker and More

Identifying waiver wire options who could be overvalued with high bid budget figures in FAAB setups.

It’s time for another overvalued FAAB story, where we identify some waiver wire targets who are being valued too highly/or could be overvalued in FAAB leagues.

I’ll be looking at Predictive FAAB total inside the FantasySP Fantasy Assistant tool and just looking at waiver wire options in general to come up with my list this week. Bid numbers can be accessed under the Predictive FAAB tool, and more data should roll in as the day/night progresses.

Running Backs

Ray Davis and Sean Tucker stick out to me this week.

Davis got the majority of the backfield workload in Buffalo after James Cook missed the Monday night game. Davis went for 97 rushing yards on 20 attempts, while adding in 55 receiving yards on three catches and targets.

Cook’s injury isn’t viewed as a long-term one, and he could be back as early as week 7. Even if he misses a game or two, once Cook returns, Davis isn’t going to be very valuable as a fantasy player.

The Buffalo backfield will still be run by Cook, and while I believe Davis’ big week 6 showing will help him get some playing time moving forward, I don’t think he’ll be a fantasy option outside really deep leagues. And he probably won’t even be a starting option outside the deepest fantasy leagues imaginable.

Do not waste a ton of FAAB on him. I could see spending a couple picks, especially if you rostered Cook, but anything more than $4 or $5 already seems like an overpay.

Tucker played a bigger role in week 6 with Rachaad White out with an injury. He and Bucky Irving split the workload and both had monster fantasy showings as the Buccaneers scored 51 points.

Tucker had 136 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 touches. He added 56 yards and a touchdown on three catches and targets.

This season, Tucker had barely played behind White and Irving coming into the game. He had just two rushing attempts and one catch and target through the first five weeks. Tucker has returned a few kickoffs this season.

After his big outing, many fantasy owners are going to prioritize Tucker on the waiver wire. I’m here to tell you to avoid him, especially when it comes to spending big bucks on him in FAAB leagues.

White won’t be out forever, and to expect Tucker to be involved alongside White and Irving is a pipe dream. One of the top two backs would need to be out for an extended period in order for Tucker to step into a meaningful role week after week.

I don’t mind spending a couple bucks on Tucker, especially if I rostered Irving or White in a deeper league, but honestly, anything more than $3 is probably a big overpay.

Instead of paying big bucks on a player like Davis or Tucker, go after backs who have a more defined role and aren’t just a one-week fill-in, like Tank Bigsby, Kareem Hunt or Tyler Allgeier.

Wide Receivers

Keenan Allen is a wide receiver I’d be wary of paying too much for in a FAAB league.

He went for 41 yards and two touchdowns on five catches and targets in week 6. It was his first game over 40 yards, and he also scored for the first time. It was also the first time he reached five receptions as well.

The Bears have several pass catchers they can turn to, including D.J. Moore, Cole Kmet and Rome Odunze, and none of them have been able to consistently produce this season. Injuries have played a role in that, but I think most of it has to do with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

Williams isn’t locking in on any single receiver, which is great for his fantasy outlook both this season and in the future, but that balanced approach makes the Bears’ pass catchers hard to trust with starting spots.

I wouldn’t mind taking a flier on Allen in a deeper league, or if I was decimated by injuries in a standard league, but spending more than $3 or $4 seems like an overpay already to me. Allen isn’t going to be a good starting option every week, and those are the kind of players I’d want to target with my FAAB.

Spend a little money on Demario Douglas instead, or maybe try for a wideout like Christian Watson, Josh Downs, Khalil Shakir, JuJu Smith-Schuster or Romeo Doubs, many of which you could get for $2 or cheaper.

Tight Ends

Cade Otton and Cole Kmet are a couple tight ends who I could see being overvalued this week.

Otton had just 15 yards on two catches and six targets in week 6, but a touchdown made his fantasy total look respectable.

Otton had at least 40 yards in the previous three games, but week 6 was a reminder that he’s an inconsistent fantasy performer. He’s been fairly involved offensively the past four weeks, so it makes sense to try and add him, but I wouldn’t spend more than a dollar or two on him.

Fantasy owners will throw too much of their FAAB at him because good fantasy tight ends are few and far between. If you land him, you’re going to likely be disappointed at his fantasy output the rest of the season, especially when you run out of FAAB to spend on guys who could be more beneficial to your fantasy team.

Kmet had 70 yards and two touchdowns on five catches and targets in week 6. That’s a great fantasy outing, but for many of the same reasons as we just mentioned with Allen, Kmet is not a great FAAB target.

I wouldn’t mind spending a couple bucks on him, but anything over $5 is a risk. He’s been far too inconsistent to trust as a starter every week.

I’d be all in on a guy like Evan Engram if he was available in my league. Zach Ertz is another guy I’d take for cheap over spending money on Kmet. T.J. Hockenson is another one worth taking a gamble on instead if you are more looking for a backup or possible flex starter.
