Fantasy Football Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups: Eric Wilson, Malik Mustapha, Haason Reddick, and More
These are the IDP options you should be targeting on the waiver wire this week.
Linebackers
Eric Wilson, Green Bay Packers
Quay Walker was forced out of Sunday's game with a concussion, and it was Wilson who slid into his every-down role and called the plays. He jumped Isaiah McDuffie and Edgerrin Cooper right into the largest LB snap count. He piled up six solo tackles, including two sacks and four tackles for a loss. If Walker misses any time, Wilson should be an excellent option.
Jake Hansen, Houston Texans
Most IDP owners will be targeting Neville Hewitt in the Houston LB corps; however, you should already have him locked up because we featured him last week before his monster Week 7. We will be going deeper and taking a look at Hansen. With Azeez Al-Shaair, Henry To'oto'o, and Christian Harris all out, Hansen slid into an every-down role. There is a good chance that is the case next week as well with all three LBs still banged up. Once he got into the game, he managed to make seven tackles (four solo) with one going for a loss.
Grant Stuard, Indianapolis Colts
E.J. Speed was ruled out last week after being listed as doubtful late in the week. He was replaced by Jaylon Carlies, who also got injured in the game and was replaced in turn by Stuard. Despite not even playing a significant role early in the game, Stuard racked up 19 tackles (11 solo) with one for a loss. It seems any linebacker the Colts plug into their every-down inside roles amasses huge tackle numbers. If Speed is sidelined again this week, Stuard should put together another productive game.
Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
It appears that there is a real chance that Sherwood has taken the every-down role away from C.J. Mosley regardless of health. Despite Mosley being back on the field, Sherwood is still calling the plays and is on the field for just about every defensive snap. Mosley has been relegated to less than one-third of the snaps. There is a chance Mosley is just being eased back into play and this changes eventually. Nevertheless, if Sherwood does end up maintaining this role, he will go from an injury fill-in to a player who has rest-of-season value.
Ivan Pace Jr, Minnesota Vikings
Blake Cashman was not able to get on the field in Week 7 and is in danger of sitting out again this week. Ivan Pace slid into an every-down role and called the plays in his absence. Every time Pace gets an opportunity, he tends to make the most of it. This week was no exception. He totaled 10 tackles (three solo), a sack, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. If Cashman is out again this week, Pace is a fantastic fantasy option. The increased snap count will allow him to rack up tackles on top of his big play ability.

Defensive Backs
Malik Mustapha, San Francisco 49ers
George Odum got the first crack at filling the void in the 49ers' secondary left by the injury to Talanoa Hufanga. Unfortunately, he didn't play up to par and Mustapha drew the starting role this past week and performed significantly better. He managed to drag down the ball carrier 12 times (six solo) and is now in line to maintain the starting job until Hufanga is able to return from injured reserve.
Coby Bryant, Seattle Seahawks
Bryant slid into the starting safety role for Seattle with Rayshawn Jenkins landing on injured reserve. He made an immediate impact, making 11 tackles (seven solo) and grabbing a pick. What gives him even more value is that he is CB-eligible on a bunch of platforms. This is a safety you should be targeting, especially in leagues where you have to start a cornerback.
Linemen
Haason Reddick, New York Jets
Reddick has finally ended his holdout and is set to join the Jets. Odds are someone in your league has already given up on him and cast him to the waiver wire because he hasn't played and also wasn't IR-eligible in many leagues. He has proven to be an elite pass rusher and should be added in all platforms. If he returns to form, he could be a league-winning type of addition who you can add for nothing at midseason.
DeForest Buckner, Indianapolis Colts
Buckner is expected to return to practice this week and could be on the field as soon as Week 8. He has been sidelined since Week 2, so there is a chance somebody cut him and he's available to pick up. If he's available, he's a must-add DT. You can make a legitimate case for him being the DT1 overall for the remainder of the season. Don't let him sit on the waiver wire while someone else snags him from you.
