Week 7 Fantasy Football RB Snap & Touch Report: Are Backups Justice Hill, Jaylen Warren, Tyler Allgeier and Zach Charbonnet Worthy of Standard League Starts?

Morgan takes a look at important usage numbers for fantasy football running backs coming out of Week 7.

With week 7 in the books, it’s time for another backfield breakdown.

We’ll look at all the backfields that played in week 7, which excludes just the Cowboys and Bears. No teams are on byes this coming week.

Patriots

Rhamondre Stevenson, JaMycal Hasty and Antonio Gibson all played for the Pats in week 7, playing 30, 20 and 10 snaps, respectively. Stevenson led the way with nine touches, while Hasty had seven and Gibson four.

This backfield is a mess, and with the team playing from behind so much, the three backs are not good options in standard leagues. Stevenson and Hasty are the best deep league options, but not very confident plays.

Jets

Breece Hall dominated the Jets’ backfield again in week 7. He’s a good starting option every week despite the Jets’ offensive struggles.

Braelon Allen is back to just being a handcuff option.

Bills

James Cook returned in week 7 and was back to being the Bills’ backfield leader. He remains a good starting option every week.

Ray Davis played 13 snaps and got six touches, while Ty Johnson had a touch across 12 snaps. Davis has some deep league starting intrigue, while Johnson can be avoided in almost every league.

Dolphins

De'Von Achane played 40 snaps and got 17 touches in week 7. Raheem Mostert was at 11 touches over 23 snaps, while Jaylen Wright got five touches across six snaps.

Achane is still the back you want from the Dolphins, and he could go back to being an elite option if Tua Tagovailoa returns to the field this week. Mostert is a flex option in standard leagues, while being a better deep league starting option. Wright could be started in a pinch in deep leagues, but is more of an add and stash player right now.

Ravens

The backfield belongs to Derrick Henry. He is a must-start fantasy player.

Justice Hill has some upside in deeper PPR setups. I’d play matchups with him.

Steelers

Jaylen Warren outsnapped Najee Harris 35-33 in week 7, but it was Harris who got seven more touches, 21-14, and delivered much better numbers.

Warren caps Harris’ fantasy ceiling, but with how Harris has played of late, I’d keep starting him. Warren can be started in deeper leagues until he starts performing better.

Bengals

Chase Brown played 32 snaps to 27 for Zack Moss. Brown was the clear leader in touches though, 17-9.

Brown is a starting option in standard leagues, while Moss is a better play in deeper leagues.

Browns

Pierre Strong led the way in snaps among Cleveland backs in week 7, but Nick Chubb had the most touches. D'Onta Foreman also factored in a bit, while Jerome Ford missed the game.

Chubb is the best fantasy option for week 8, but he’s just a flex-level guy for now. Strong, Foreman and Ford are just deep league options until the backfield rotation gets sorted out.

Texans

Joe Mixon dominated the Texans’ backfield last week and needs to be started in just about every league moving forward.

Dare Ogunbowale outsnapped Dameon Pierce 15-7, but neither are good fantasy options right now. They are handcuffs to Mixon.

Titans

Tyjae Spears missed week 7, so Tony Pollard dominated the snaps and touches in the Tennessee backfield. Keep playing him until Spears returns - Pollard is a pretty good option even with Spears around.

Colts

Jonathan Taylor missed another game, allowing Tyler Goodson and Trey Sermon to lead the backfield.

Taylor goes back to the only good fantasy back in Indy if he’s healthy, while Goodson might have overtaken Sermon and be the better option for week 8 if Taylor is out again.

Jaguars

Travis Etienne missed the game, so Tank Bigsby powered the backfield and D'Ernest Johnson backed him up.

Bigsby might be a good starting option even when Etienne returns. Johnson might remain the No. 2 option in the ground game, while Etienne serves as more of a pass-catching specialist.

Broncos

Javonte Williams dominated on the field despite getting just 17 touches. He’s the No. 1 option in Denver for the time being.

Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime are the backups, and while splitting time, neither are good fantasy options.

Chiefs

Kareem Hunt paced the KC backfield again this past week. Carson Steele got six touches to just three for Samaje Perine.

Hunt remains the KC back to start, while you can avoid everyone else.

Raiders

Alexander Mattison looked like the clear No. 1 option in Las Vegas, with Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah at 11 and 13 snaps overall.

Mattison is a flex option in standard leagues for week 8. White and Abdullah should be avoided for the time being.

Chargers

J.K. Dobbins controlled the backfield work, with Kimani Vidal backing him up, but only getting four touches across 18 snaps.

Dobbins remains the only solid fantasy RB starting option from the Chargers, but he’s just a flex option in standard leagues after some inconsistent showings.

Eagles

Saquon Barkley led the way for Philadelphia, but Kenneth Gainwell got 14 touches across 24 snaps.

Barkley is still a safe starting option, but Gainwell could be a deep league option in super favorable matchups now.

Giants

Tyrone Tracy led the backfield even with Devin Singletary back. I think they will continue to split the touches, which really only makes them confident plays in deeper leagues, unless they have a super favorable matchup.

Commanders

Austin Ekeler led the backfield in snaps, but Brian Robinson and Jeremy McNichols got more touches.

Robinson is the best starting option from Washington, and he’s a flex option in standard leagues. Ekeler and McNichols are deep league options, but just flex options.

Vikings

Aaron Jones played and dominated the backfield. He remains a strong starting option every week.

Ty Chandler is just a handcuff option at this point.

Packers

Josh Jacobs led the Packers’ backfield, with Emanuel Wilson only playing 12 snaps, but getting five touches.

Jacobs remains a good starting option every week, while Wilson is a flex option in deeper leagues.

Lions

Jahmyr Gibbs was the clear leader in Detroit’s backfield this past week. David Montgomery got 12 touches, but wasn’t nearly as efficient after suffering an injury.

Both are starting options in standard leagues, but Montgomery’s value could take a hit if he’s not able to take on his usual snaps/touches.

Falcons

Bijan Robinson clearly outpaced Tyler Allgeier in the Atlanta backfield. He remains a top-end fantasy option.

Allgeier is a flex starting option in standard leagues, but I like him a lot more in deeper leagues.

Buccaneers

Rachaad White got 16 touches, Bucky Irving received 12 and Sean Tucker had six in week 7.

White did most of his damage as a receiver, so in PPR leagues, he’s got some good value yet. Irving is another standard league starting option, while Tucker is just a deep league possibility.

Panthers

With Jonathon Brooks still not playing, Chuba Hubbard dominated the backfield touches in Carolina again. Hubbard will remain a good starting option until Brooks is ready to go.

Saints

Alvin Kamara clearly led the Saints in week 7, but he had a rough fantasy outing. He’s still a good starting option every week, but temper expectations if Derek Carr and Chris Olave miss more time.

Kendre Miller looks like he might have the No. 2 role over Jamaal Williams.

Rams

Kyren Williams continues to dominate in Los Angeles. His value could dip a bit when Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua return, but he’ll remain a weekly starter.

Seahawks

Kenneth Walker got 16 touches across 28 snaps, while Zach Charbonnet had nine touches across 33 snaps.

Walker still put up big numbers and remains the top fantasy option, but in the right matchups, Charbonnet could be a deep league flex option.

49ers

Jordan Mason played and continued to lead the Niners’ backfield. He’ll remain a good starting option until Christian McCaffrey is ready to go.

Cardinals

James Conner has the clear hold of the Arizona backfield and needs to be played in just about every league/matchup.

It’s a tossup between Emari Demercado and Trey Benson as to who would take over if Conner would ever miss extended time.
