Key Fantasy Football Injuries Heading into Week 9: Jordan Love, Jonathon Brooks, DK Metcalf, Dallas Goedert and More
These are all the key injuries to monitor throughout the week.
Quarterbacks
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (Groin)
Love has not yet been able to practice this week. While he does say that he's determined to play, he is in danger of missing time. Groins are tough to play through and re-injure easily.
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets (Knee/Hamstring)
Rodgers is still banged up with a number of minor injuries. The team has said they do not plan on resting him "at this point." In other words, they aren't planning on benching him and he'll continue to be out there.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints (Oblique)
Carr is trending towards returning this week. He will be a much-needed upgrade for the entire offense and all the fantasy options in it.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots (Concussion)
Maye is dealing with a concussion and will have to clear the league's concussion protocol before he is eligible to return to action. We probably won't know much more before the weekend.
Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers (Thumb)
Dalton is healthy and ready to return, but the team is going to stick with Bryce Young. This is a disaster for every other option in Carolina.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (Ankle)
Goff is dealing with an ankle injury and was not able to practice on Wednesday. We expect him to be available in Week 9, but will monitor the situation.
Running Backs
Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars (Hamstring)
Etienne starts the week as a limited participant as he has done in the three previous weeks. He sat out all three of those weeks, so it's hard to say whether this is a good sign or not.
Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans (Foot)
Pollard was a DNP on Wednesday with a foot injury while Tajae Spears was limited with a hamstring injury. This is a situation to monitor throughout the week if you're invested in the Titans' backfield.
Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers (Ankle)
Jacobs is not practicing as of now, however, he insists he'll be good to go for Week 9. If he were to miss time, it sounds like MarShawn Lloyd will be back this week as well.
Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys (Illness)
Dowdle missed Week 8 with an illness, but was back at practice on Wednesday. We fully expect him to be out there for Week 9.
Tyrone Tracy, New York Giants (Concussion)
Tracy suffered a concussion on Monday Night Football, which makes him a long shot to clear the protocol and suit up on Sunday.
Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints (Hamstring)
Yet another hamstring injury for Miller. Head coach Dennis Allen is going to throw a fit over this one.
Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns (Hamstring)
Ford is back at practice in a limited capacity and has a shot to return this week. His role is very unclear now that Nick Chubb has returned to action in his absence.
Jonathon Brooks, Carolina Panthers (Knee)
Brooks is practicing in full and could make his NFL debut as soon as this weekend.
Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens (Knee)
Mitchell is practicing in full and his season debut appears to be imminent.
Wide Receivers
Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins (Foot)
Foot did not practice Wednesday, but this appears to be more of a maintenance plan than him being in any real danger of sitting out on Sunday.
Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars (Chest)
Thomas has been limited in practice so far this week and his situation will have to be monitored throughout the week.
Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills (Wrist)
Cooper was limited on Wednesday but is expected to play on Sunday.
Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals (Quad)
Higgins started off the week with DNP and is in danger of missing time. With the Bengals spiraling and him being on a franchise tag, don't be shocked if you don't get much more out of him this season when he's not at 100%.
DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks (Knee)
After missing last week, Metcalf has been unable to practice this week. He looks to be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 9.
Calvin Ridley, Tennessee Titans (Shoulder)
Finally coming off a big week for fantasy owners, Ridley is now dealing with a shoulder injury and was unable to practice on Wednesday.
Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts (Back)
Neither Pittman nor Josh Downs has practiced yet this week, however, the good news is that Joe Flacco has been named the starter, which gives both wideouts a shot to be fantasy studs on any given week.
Tight Ends
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles (Hamstring)
Goedert still isn't practicing and a return doesn't look imminent.
Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks (Groin)
Fant was limited in practice Wednesday and we will monitor this situation throughout the week.
Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers (Shoulder)
Dissly is still dealing with the shoulder issue he played through last week and we'd expect him to be out there again this week barring a setback.
