Week 11 Fantasy Football Drop Candidates: Caleb Williams, Javonte Williams, Xavier Worthy and More
You can drop these players to the waiver wire to clear out space on your roster this week.
Quarterbacks
Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
After a brief spike in production, Williams has seemingly regressed as has the Bears' passing attack. He hasn't thrown or ran for a TD now in three consecutive games, while also failing to top 131 passing yards in two of those three games.
It has been an absolute disaster for the 2024 first-overall pick, who seems to have hit the rookie wall. Chicago lost all three of those games and the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and Washington Commanders aren't a devastating lineup of defenses to face. It's safe to drop the rookie to your waiver wire and move on from him for a better more trustworthy option.
Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence already wasn't a very good option to begin with, but now that he's dealing with a shoulder injury, he's not worth the trouble in any format. At some point, we all just have to accept that maybe we were wrong about who he was as a prospect.
It's not often that such a large majority of people miss so badly, nevertheless, it appears to be what happened. With that said, don't even consider going to pick up Mac Jones. He's as bad as they come with a low floor and even lower ceiling. Evan Engram may end up being the only player you want on this offense.
Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys
With Prescott done for the year and Rush playing well enough in the past, there was some hope that he could be a decent option in a high-volume passing attack with a weapon like CeeDee Lamb on the outside.
The answer to that question was a clear no if you watched him play on Sunday. Both Rush and the entire Cowboys' offense was a disaster and it will be Rush who drags down Lamb, not Lamb who picks up Rush.
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
Some fantasy owners got excited about a potential resurgence for Rodgers after two decent games. No matter how many times we say it, people refuse to accept it. It's over for Rodgers. Not his season but his career. He should never be on your fantasy roster again.
His 151-yard performance in a game that the Jets scored six points should tell you all you need to know. Things are only going to get worse for New York, and if you thought that locker room was dysfunctional before, wait until you see them moving forward now that their playoff hopes are over. Things are going to get uglier and uglier.
Running Backs
Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos
The coaching staff has made it clear that rookie Audric Estime is going to continue to see more work and they've stayed true to their word. Estime carried the ball 14 times this week and Williams just once. Williams was a bad option when he was the primary back in Denver and has already appeared in this article multiple times this season. It's time to cut him loose for good.
Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers
There was some hope that the rookie would emerge as his role slowly grew. J.K. Dobbins injury history also gave Vidal owners some hope for a league winning type of run late in the season. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear likely.
Gus Edwards returned in Week 10 and looked strong. Vidal on the other hand was a healthy scratch. Dynasty owners shouldn't lose all hope for him, but redraft owners can cast him to the waiver wire.
Jonathon Brooks, Carolina Panthers
The assumption was that Brooks was the future in Carolina and would be taking over for Chuba Hubbard - Brooks would return and would see a slowly increasing workload starting around mid-season until fully taking over the job. The Panthers would have nothing to play for and would have no reason not to hand the reins over to Hubbard.
That all changed this week when the team handed Hubbard a lucrative four-year extension. The team is now invested in Hubbard and Brooks has taken far longer than expected to return from his late-season ACL tear. It may be time to cut bait with Brooks and pick up someone who is more likely to have a significant role in 2024.
Wide Receivers
Mason Tipton, New Orleans Saints
This applies to any Saints wideout, we just used Tipton because he was the most started in Week 10. Cedrick Wilson Jr., Bub Means, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, etc. Cut them all.
There isn't going to be a player you can trust in this group and we don't expect Chris Olave to come back this season. This offense is a mess and none of their receivers need to be rostered.
Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs
Worthy isn't going to become the guy at any point this season. After flashing Week 1 and then after Rashee Rice got injured, there was some hope. That won't be the case.
Predictably, Travis Kelce stepped up into a bigger role and the acquisition of DeAndre Hopkins was the nail in the coffin. Sure, there is a chance he breaks a big play and puts together a nice week or two, but those instances will be rare and more importantly unpredictable. You can move on from him for the remainder of this season.
