Fantasy Football Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups: Jerome Baker, Chamarri Conner, Nick Herbig and More
These are the IDP options you should be targeting on your waiver wire this week.
Linebackers
Jerome Baker, Tennessee Titans
Jack Gibbens went down with a severe ankle injury in Week 11, which will end his season. However, Baker was already playing the majority of snaps in his place at the time of the injury.
The Gibbens' injury should lock Baker into an undisputed every-down role for the remainder of the season. Baker had eight tackles (four solo) in this game. Both Baker while in Seattle and the position when played by Gibbens this season have proven to have plenty of PPR value this season.
Jack Campbell, Detroit Lions
Alex Anzalone broke his arm in Week 11, which opens up the door for Jack Campbell to have an expanded role for the remainder of the season. He had already been playing expanded snaps with Malcolm Rodriguez sidelined, but this secures his role moving forward. With all the injuries in the Detroit LB corps, Campbell should be viewed as an LB2 moving forward.
Devin White, Houston Texans
White is a risky option but worth consideration. He took over the starting job from Henry To'oto'o in the second half of Monday Night Football. It's not clear if this was a short-term switch or if this move was a sign of things to come in Houston. To'oto'o has been a valuable fantasy asset this season and White could be the same if he eventually slides into that role full-time.
Tyrice Knight, Seattle Seahawks
As expected, Knight moved into a starting job with Tyrell Dodson dropped from the roster. He managed 10 tackles (four solo) on just over 80% of defensive snaps. Based on this performance and what Dodson did all season, Knight should be a weekly startable fantasy asset for the rest of the season. He should be added in all leagues if he's still available.
Matt Milano, Buffalo Bills
Milano's return from injured reserve now appears to be imminent after the team opened up his 21-day practice window. He is a proven fantasy asset and would presumably take over his role which Dorian Williams has had plenty of fantasy success in while filling the role. It may take Milano a few weeks to get up to full speed and play his full allotment of snaps, but once he's rolling, he could be a difference-maker down the stretch.
Malik Harrison, Baltimore Ravens
Roquan Smith suffered a hamstring injury in Week 11. Harrison took over for him and projects to take over a starting linebacker spot next to Trenton Simpson if Smith were to miss any time. That's a valuable IDP role and makes him worth a pickup as a potential spot starter for as long as Smith is sidelined.
Defensive Backs
Chamarri Conner, Kansas City Chiefs
Conner has had a few monster fantasy games this season and is coming off an eight-tackle (seven solo) performance with an interception. What gives him so much potential value is that he is both safety and cornerback eligible on most platforms.
As a corner, he has CB1 upside and is worth adding in leagues where corners are mandatory. As a safety, he is a risky option with upside.
Kamren Kinchens, Los Angeles Rams
The snaps still aren't where we'd like them for Kinchens. However, it's hard to imagine he doesn't see an increased snap count as he continues to make big play after big play. He had another interception in Week 11 to go along with his eight tackles (six solo), and a tackle for a loss. The former Miami Hurricane star is showing exactly why he was viewed as one of the premier safeties in the country prior to being drafted into the NFL.
Geno Stone, Cincinnati Bengals
Stone has gotten off to a slow start in Cincy, but is starting to string together some solid games. In Week 11, he had a solid outing, managing nine tackles (eight solo) and a fumble recovery.
Adding a big play along with leading the team in tackles is what we expected from Stone when he joined the Bengals. He is worth picking up in hopes that he continues to perform at a high level moving forward.
Defensive Linemen
Nick Herbig, Pittsburgh Steelers
Herbig was a guy that we knew was going to step up in a major way after Alex Highsmith went down. He played over 80% of snaps this week, which was a great number and came through with a big play forcing a fumble. You can expect him to continue to make plays and get after the quarterback for as long as he's given this expanded opportunity.
