Week 13 Fantasy Football Drop Candidates: Gardner Minshew, Raheem Mostert, Romeo Doubs and More
All of these players are safe to drop from your fantasy rosters this week.
Quarterbacks
Gardner Minshew, Las Vegas Raiders
This of course only applies to teams in deeper Superflex leagues and probably not very good teams at that. Nevertheless, it's worth mentioning that Aidan O'Connell is expected to return this week and will be given a shot at the starting gig, sending Minshew to the bench. It may just be a case of trying something different even if you know it's not better, but it is what it is. Vegas is a disaster and there is no one that is going to come in and save them at this point.
Running Backs
Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins
Mostert has become a complete afterthought in the Miami offense. Over the past three weeks, he's totaled five carries for three yards, and over the past two weeks, he's had six touches for zero yards from scrimmage when you combine carries and receptions.
De'Von Achane has taken a stranglehold on a backfield that hasn't been great on the ground and rookie Jaylen Wright is in the process of replacing Mostert as the RB2. There is no need to keep Mostert on your roster any longer. His days as a potential fantasy starter have come and gone.
Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos
No one knows what the Broncos are going to do with their running backs from week to week, making all of them unusable. Williams isn't very good to begin with and now you are throwing in the volatility of a three-man backfield with seemingly no rhyme or reason for touch distribution.
Drop him from your roster and allow him to be someone else's problem. We'll tell you exactly what's going to happen. A league mate will pick him up and he'll have a solid game on their bench. Then they'll plug him in the following week and he'll be a disaster. Don't let that happen to you.
Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags' offense is a complete disaster and the injury to Tank Bigsby did nothing to help Etienne regain his starting form for fantasy owners. Bigsby can be sent to the waiver wire along with Etienne.
This has become one of, if not the worst, offenses in the league and both running backs have very little value or production even when given a clear RB1 role. You can probably cut bait with this entire offense, perhaps with the exception of Even Engram if you continue to rely on him in PPR leagues.
Devin Singletary, New York Giants
If you picked up Singletary when you saw Tyrone Tracy Jr. suffered a concussion in hopes that he would revert back to his early season role, be sure that you cut him and don't have him clogging up a roster spot.
Barring a serious long-term injury to Tracy, it's over for Singletary in New York. With Tommy Devito under center, it may be tough for any running back to get much going on the ground for the Giants, especially an inferior backup option.
Jonathon Brooks, Carolina Panthers
This one may be painful for many fantasy owners, especially if you held him on IR all season in hopes of a late-season return, but you can safely drop the rookie off your roster. The writing was on the wall the moment Chuba Hubbard inked his hefty four-year extension a few weeks back.
Brooks is not going to see a significant role in this offense this season and he won't be taking over Hubbard's job anytime soon. In all likelihood, he may struggle to even take over his job next year as well. It is safe to drop him in all redraft leagues.
Wide Receivers
Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers
Doubs is already a shaky fantasy option, so he's very droppable now that he's been sidelined by injury. Even if he only misses one week, there is no need to hold to him while he's out. You may just as well pick up Dontayvion Wicks and plug him in. There is nothing special about any of the fantasy options in Green Bay, other than Jayden Reed, and they are all very replaceable.
Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers
There is a clear hierarchy in the 49ers' passing attack and it's Jauan Jennings and George Kittle as the top targets, then Christian McCaffrey with Deebo Samuel Sr. and Pearsall mixed in behind them.
The only reason Samuel is hanging on to fantasy rosters is that he always has the potential upside of seeing a handful of carries and screen passes in any given game and is a proven red-zone threat. If Brock Purdy is out, even Jennings and CMC have shown to be shaky at best.
