Fantasy Football Week 15 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups: Micah McFadden, Dre Greenlaw, Chamarri Conner, Yetur Gross-Matos and More
These are all the IDP options you should consider picking up on your waiver wire this week.
Linebackers
Akeem Davis-Gaither, Cincinnati Bengals
We mentioned him last week, but circumstances have changed, which makes him worth revisiting. Since we spoke about ADG last week, starting linebacker Logan Wilson has been placed on injured reserve, essentially ending his season and definitively ending his fantasy season.
He's now racked up 21 tackles (nine solo) in his two starts. Adding him now would lock in a high-floor floor tackle-heavy linebacker who plays on every defensive snap for your playoff run. A waiver wire pickup like this is hard to come by this late in the season and he should be added in just about all IDP leagues.
Marist Liufau, Dallas Cowboys
Disaster struck on Monday Night Football when breakout linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered what looked like a serious knee injury and reports sound like the team believes his knee will require surgery and his season is over. Liufau appears to be the next man up after replacing him late in the game and playing every snap after his departure.
Things could change, but he is the assumed primary replacement moving forward. However, we do not expect him to be nearly as productive as Overshown he should still be serviceable. He did manage to chip in with 1.5 sacks on Monday.
Luke Gifford, Tennessee Titans
With both Kenneth Murray and Jerome Baker ruled out for Week 14, Gifford was the first man up with Otis Reese IV also sliding into an every-down role. Gifford piled up 12 tackles (nine solo) while Reese made seven tackles (four solo) and an interception.
However, we believe that if just one of Murray or Baker returns, Reese will be the first man sent back to the bench, which makes Gifford the priority pickup in Tennessee. Either way, you will have to monitor the injury report because if both LBs return from injury next week, then neither Gifford nor Reese are worth rostering.
Micah McFadden, New York Giants
Bobby Okereke was unable to suit up on Sunday, which forced McFadden into an every-down role and he made the most of his opportunity. He made 11 tackles (eight solo) with five of the tackles being for a loss.
If Okereke continues to miss time then McFadden should be a solid weekly option who can rack up points by tackling ball carriers. The Giants' defense is on the field for a ton of plays, which makes whoever their primary inside linebacker is a high-volume IDP option.
Dre Greenlaw, San Francisco 49ers
Greenlaw is a proven fantasy asset who should be making his season debut soon. There is no denying that this defense needs him. We wouldn't advise starting him in his first game back, but if he's out there for over about 70% of the snaps in a game, he should be plugged into your lineup the following week. Once he does return, De'Vondre Campbell Sr. can dropped off of all rosters.
Defensive Backs
Ugo Amadi, New Orleans Saints
Ever since the Marshon Lattimore trade, Amadi has become a high-end CB1 and solid S2. He has been moved into the slot and has piled up tackles. Over his past four games, he's made 34 tackles (26 solo). Those are outlandish numbers for a player who is corner-eligible.
If the big plays ever start coming, he will skyrocket to a DB1 type of option with DB1 overall upside on any given week. There is no reason he should be on the waiver wire in any format.
Chamarri Conner, Kansas City Chiefs
Conner continues to impress. In Week 14, he made nine tackles (seven solo). He's been excellent since seeing his role change due to injuries.
His production has spiked the past five weeks as he's made 33 tackles (27 solo), while also forcing a fumble and picking a pass off during that span. What makes him so valuable is he is both safety and cornerback eligible on many formats.
Defensive Line
Yetur Gross-Matos, San Francisco 49ers
Gross-Matos has stepped in as the primary pass rusher with Nick Bosa hurt and he went absolutely nuts this week. He made four solo tackles on Sunday and three of them were sacks of the quarterback.
We don't expect that kind of production on a weekly basis, but if he can continue to find success in the pass rush, he should be a very valuable IDP asset considering the fact that he has also had at least four tackles or a sack in five straight games.
