Dynasty Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Consider Adding: Jacob Cowing, Jalen McMillan, Jermaine Burton, Parker Washington, Roman Wilson and More

Morgan identifies some dynasty players maybe worth adding as the 2024 NFL season winds down.

Last week, I started a new fantasy football series where I identify some possible dynasty players to add down the stretch of the season.

My thinking is that your dynasty team is no longer competing for a title, or is just seeing some players hit IR, thus opening some roster spots.

We covered quarterbacks in the first story and then got into some running backs to add. Now, we’ll cover some wide receivers to possibly pick up. Check back soon for the story on tight ends.

Wide Receivers to Possibly Add

There were a lot of options at running back, and there’s even more wide receivers to choose from. An injury could add even more wideouts to the mix.

Atlanta’s Rondale Moore and Casey Washington, Chicago’s Tyler Scott, Dallas’ Jonathan Mingo and Ryan Flournoy, Los Angeles Rams’ Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell, New Orleans’ Bub Means and Mason Tipton, Philadelphia’s Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith, San Francisco’s Jacob Cowing and Tampa Bay’s Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer are options from NFC teams.

Baltimore’s Devontez Walker, Cincinnati’s Jermaine Burton, Indianapolis’ Anthony Gould, Jacksonville’s Parker Washington, Los Angeles Chargers’ Brenden Rice, Miami’s Malik Washington, New York Jets’ Malachi Corley, Pittsburgh’s Roman Wilson and Tennessee's Treylon Burks are the options from AFC teams.

NFC Options

Moore missed the entire 2024 season after sustaining a knee injury in early August. He’s just 24 years old and had between 40-54 receptions and 352-435 yards in his first three seasons with Arizona.

Washington has played in eight games this season, but has just one catch. He’s stuck behind Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud on the depth chart, and there isn’t room for any other receivers in this offense. It’d need to be a deeper league to have it make sense to add and stash Washington.

Scott is in a similar situation in Chicago, stuck behind D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen. He was a fourth-round pick in 2023 and could take on a larger role in 2025 if the team moves on from Moore and/or Allen.

Mingo was traded from the Panthers to the Cowboys, and many hoped that would unlock his potential. That hasn’t happened yet, but being a second-round pick from last year, I think he’s worth stashing in some deeper dynasties.

Flournoy surprisingly hasn’t factored in much this season, despite injuries to the Dallas wide receiver room, and roster overall. He could get some more run down the stretch as the Cowboys turn their attention to the coming years.

Whittington did some nice things in the games that Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp missed. Those two wideouts suck up most of the targets, but at some point, the Rams are probably going to want to get more guys involved. If Whittington is still available in your league, I’d stash him.

Atwell is probably on his way out of LA, but has a history of success when given a starting role. If he gets moved, he could become a decent fantasy asset, and I’d stash him to see if that maybe happens this offseason.

Means and Tipton have factored in a bit this season after the Saints were hit hard by injuries at wide receiver. They have uphill battles to earn significant roles moving forward, but in deep enough dynasties, I think both are worth stashing.

Wilson and Smith were two rookies I expected to make a difference at some point this season. That hasn’t happened, but with only A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith being proven wideouts in Philly, the rookie wideout’s time to shine could still be coming.

Cowing has played sparingly this season, but he could get some more run late in the season or in the years to come as the Niners retool their roster. I think the Niners move on from Deebo Samuel Sr. this offseason, and that should open things up for Ricky Pearsall and Cowing.

McMillan and Palmer have both contributed a bit this season (and McMillan is a hot waiver name over the past couple weeks), but with Mike Evans getting up there in age and Chris Godwin now dealing with a serious injury, the young wideouts could be more involved in the years to come. I like McMillan over Palmer at this point.

AFC Options

I figured Walker might factor in at some point this season in Baltimore, but that hasn’t happened. They spent a fourth-round pick on him, and I’d imagine he’ll be battling for a starting spot going into the 2025 season.

Burton has not been the asset I figured he was going to be in Cincinnati, even with Tee Higgins injured throughout the season. Burton’s fantasy outlook could be much more appealing going into 2025 depending on if Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase are back with the Bengals. Burton is definitely worth adding and stashing if he’s available in your league.

Gould has just one reception on the season, and is buried behind Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell on the depth chart. I think the Colts could move one or two of those wideouts this offseason, which would give Gould a chance to be a fantasy asset in 2025.

Washington has done a bit late this season for Jacksonville, so he’s probably owned in a bunch of leagues. If he’s available, he needs to be scooped up immediately. He could be starting for the Jaguars in 2025 - it all depends on if Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis are brought back.

Rice hasn’t been given many chances to contribute this season, and an injury hasn’t helped matters. As a seventh-round pick, Rice’s chances of contributing to a team someday are not the greatest, but the last name at least makes him worth stashing in some really deep dynasties.

Washington is coming off his best game in week 15, and should play more of a role down the stretch with Odell Beckham Jr. no longer around. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are going to dominate the targets and production in the wideout room for as long as they are in Miami, but their talent should open things up for the other pass catchers on the field. Washington could be one of those guys, and he might be able to help you already late this season.

Corley’s chances of making a difference this season took a big hit when Davante Adams was traded to New York. There should be sweeping changes to the team this offseason, which means Corley could take on a big role as early as next season.

Wilson has dealt with injuries and barely played this season. The 2024 third-round pick has a bright dynasty outlook with not many proven pass catchers in Pittsburgh. If he’s not rostered, I’d definitely pick him up in hopes of a big 2025 fantasy season.

Burks hasn’t done much this season, and is on injured reserve after having surgery to address ACL damage. He had 444 yards and a score across 11 games in his rookie season in 2022 and then had 221 yards in his sophomore season (also 11 games). The 2022 first-round pick should be given another opportunity with some team in hopes of him becoming the star receiver he was viewed as after being a top-20 pick.
