November 11 Fantasy Hockey Goalie Matchup Rankings: Justus Annunen, Jake Oettinger, Samuel Ersson and More
Monday's goalie matchups by the measure of opponent shots per game and goals per game rankings.
It can be hard to understand the true difference between team performance when looking at per-game stats. Two of our teams in action today present a good example: Nashville and Colorado have both averaged 31.1 shots per game in their 15 games (466 shots).
The Avalanche have scored a full goal per game more than the Predators, though. One goal might not seem like much, but that means 15 more goals through these 15 games. Over the full season, that would be 82 more goals for Colorado; 82 less goals last season would have moved the Avs from first place to 27th in total goals.
That’s why team rankings can mean more than the actual stats sometimes. It’s hard to know what the top/average/bottom numbers are for something like goals per game, but it’s easy to understand the difference between first place and 27th place in the league.
Let’s go through Monday’s goalie matchups by the measure of opponent shots per game and goals per game rankings. Those stats are compared to give each team a matchup rating; a positive number means the team shoots more and scores less goals, creating more quality save opportunities.
I listed every healthy goalie who has started a game for each team, so always check starters before game time to ensure you have the right guy in your lineup. All stats are from NHL.com.
