LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers (14.5 Rebounds + Assists)
We start off this week with a no-brainer. Lebron putting up 14.5 rebounds + assists against the Knicks is very unlikely to miss. It’s not clear why this number is so low. The matchup is average as the Knicks are 11th in assists allowed per game and drop down to 21st in the league in rebounds allowed. We all know that even at 38 years old, King James fills up the stat sheet, which he accomplishes with regularity.
How common is it for LeBron to hit this mark? He’s done it in his last 14 games. You’d have to go back to December 27 for the last time that he didn’t reach this target. That game on December 27 just so happened to be the fewest minutes he played in a game all season. Him missing this line would be an anomaly.
The Pick: Higher 14.5 Rebounds + Assists
Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers (9.5 Rebounds)
Since returning from injury over the past two games Davis hasn’t failed to hit this line and has double-digit rebounds in both games. That’s while playing limited minutes in his first game back. The minutes restriction looked to be lifted or at least lightened in his second game. In just 26 minutes he pulled down 12 boards in his return then saw his minutes jump to 34 in his second game. He has totaled 22 rebounds through two games. The bar is set low on this line if he continues to pull down rebounds as he has in a matchup when he most certainly should.
There is no reason to believe he won’t keep up these rebounding numbers as he has averaged 12 per game this season and has a great matchup. As we mentioned earlier the Knicks are allowing the 10th most rebounds per game to their opponents this season. He could hit this mark on rebounds alone.
The Pick: Higher 12.5 Rebounds + Assists
Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers (31.5 Points + Assists)
Leonard has been playing great as of late and has a plus matchup against the Bulls tonight. Chicago ranks 18th in points allowed per game this season and 27th in assists allowed per game this season. Kawhi should be able to pick them apart and take advantage of them. This isn’t a mark that Leonard has struggled to hit either.
Over his past five games, he has topped this total four times and he has cleared this bar in eight of his last 10. In the 10 full games he’s played in January he has averaged 29.3 points per game and 4.1 assists. It has been balanced too as his low points total during that span is 24 and his high 36. So there isn’t some outlier game skewing the numbers. An average game for him tonight would be more than enough to hit this line for you.
The Pick: Higher 31.5 Points + Assists
DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls (35.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists)
On the other side of the court in the Clipper vs Bulls game, we have DeRozan who has also been playing well. He has cleared tonight’s line in three straight and in four of his last five games. He’s averaging 27.1 points per game in January with four rebounds and five assists. This is a tough matchup, but he should still be able to reach his target here. If you exclude the game in Boston when he only played 23 minutes, over his past six games he is averaging 30 points per game. During that same stretch, he has averaged 5.7 assists and 3.7 assists per game. That number is well over what you need to hit on this bet.
The Pick: Higher 35.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
LaMelo Ball, Charlotte Hornets (30.5 Points + Assists)
Many will shy away from a matchup with the Bucks, but we just saw this play out and Melo went for 24 and 12. That is significantly above this line. If we go all the way back to Christmas, he has hit this line in nine of 14 games. Those aren’t LeBron numbers, but still clearly skew in your favor. His averages on the season are 23 points and 8.2 assists which also put you over this bar. However, one thing stood out to us about this bet that we loved. When the individual bets are split up they are a point higher than this line. So, by combining them you are essentially getting a free point.
The Pick: Higher than 30.5 Points + Assists
