Twelve NBA games were in action yesterday. Each game provided valuable insight for fantasy basketball owners.

Let's hop straight into the top performances that caught my eye from waiver wire players.

Waiver Wire Options

Last night, Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook truly came into his own. After a shaky start, he has finally started to produce and become a very viable rotation piece for them.

He finished last night with 29 points, six rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes of action. This was all done without Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, which makes it even more impressive. I can't promise that his 3-point shooting will stay as consistent as it has been, but I know he will continue to get to the rim at will and create great opportunities for himself and others.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone said that he expects Murray to be sidelined for at least the next few games, so Westbrook should be your primary waiver wire target right now. He is owned in 75% of fantasy leagues right now, but after yesterday's performance, he saw a +7.86 own increase. His playmaking and energy are two things the Nuggets desperately need from him, so I don’t see his production dropping off, even when Murray comes back.

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie has quietly been one of the most consistent role players to start this season. He has always been a good defender but has needed to improve his shooting, and this year he certainly has.

He is averaging 10 points, five rebounds and one assist on 46% shooting from the field. The Devin Vassell injury has leapfrogged him into a bigger role, and he has taken advantage of the opportunity to the fullest. He continues to space the floor and make the game easier for Victor Wembanyama with his shooting gravity.

Champagnie is owned in 48% of leagues right now, but that number is very low, in my opinion. He currently is one of the Spurs only consistent shooters, so he will keep on seeing extended minutes for that reason alone. His own increase was the second largest among all players, coming in at +12.02. Champagnie will be a top target on the waiver wire, so get him while you can.

Atlanta Hawks forward and this year's number 1 pick, Zaccharie Risacher, has been on fire lately, with multiple double-digit games.

In last night’s game vs the New York Knicks, Zaccharie Risacher put up 33 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on 11/18 shooting. Risacher has been a perfect complement to Trae Young with his shooting and defensive versatility.

He is currently averaging 12 points, three rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes of action. His on-ball creation leaves much to be desired, but he is an excellent movement shooter and cutter, and he is also playing with a top-three passer in the league.

Risacher is currently owned in 50% of leagues, but that is as low as it is probably going to get for him. He started the season shaky and now is coming into his own, so he should be an excellent waiver wire pickup for your team. He saw a huge +11.7 increase this week, so don’t wait too long to pick him up.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Brandon Boston Jr. has been the most surprising development in the league to me so far.

After years of what seemed to be wasted potential in Los Angeles with the Clippers, he seems to have found his footing on an injury-riddled Pelicans team. Boston has always been a good scorer, but has never been able to put it together in a team setting at the highest level. He is currently averaging 10 points, two rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes of game time. After last night’s game vs. the Cavaliers, Boston recorded his fourth straight double-digit scoring game.

Boston is only owned in 19% of leagues, so he should be the most attainable player on this list today. He saw a +4.47 own increase this week, but I’m pretty sure most owners are weary of this just being a fluke. Pelicans coach Willie Green seems to have a decent amount of trust in Boston, so grab Boston now and reap the benefits later.

Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George had an unexplainably bad start to this season, but he finally looks to be cashing in on his potential. George recorded his season-high 33 points last night and his seventh consecutive double-figure scoring game.

He previously struggled with his shot, but now it seems that he has found his footing again. He is currently owned in 77% of leagues, so he could be a hard waiver target to acquire. While the Jazz continues to be ravished with injuries, George will be the main facilitator and scorer, so picking him up on waivers is a low-risk, high-impact move.
