Breakout Right-Hander Establishes Himself as Must-Start Mid-Rotation Anchor

Ben Brown has taken a massive leap forward in his third big-league season, firmly establishing himself as a reliable mid-rotation starter for the Cubs. After battling through a high-ERA campaign last year, the 26-year-old has dramatically improved his command and refined his arsenal, making him a fixture in a Chicago rotation currently missing several key pieces due to injuries. Slotting in as the team's number three starter, his secure playing time and developmental growth make him a highly valuable asset in all fantasy formats.

Our season projections expect Brown to provide strong strikeout volume, with a forecast of 160 strikeouts over the remaining stretch. While his sparkling 1.78 actual ERA to date is likely to regress closer to our projected 3.91 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, his current form demonstrates a much higher ceiling than previously anticipated. He has shown elite home-run prevention this year, which supports his ability to limit damage and protect his WHIP even when facing tough lineups.

Ultimately, Brown is no longer a fringe streamer but a legitimate fantasy starter. While a projected moderate increase in ratios suggests some caution against elite opponents, his high-strikeout upside and secure role in the Cubs' rotation provide a robust floor. Fantasy managers should treat him as a solid mid-rotation option who can anchor the back half of a fantasy rotation.
