November 14 Fantasy Basketball Waivers: Malik Beasley, Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain and More
NBA players who had good games this week and are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Eleven NBA games were played yesterday. Each game provided valuable insight for fantasy basketball owners.
Let's hop straight into the top performances that caught my eye from waiver wire players.
Waiver Wire Pptions
Last night, Sixers guard Jared McCain proved to be the real deal. He showed that he could be a real contributor on a contending Sixers team.
He finished the game with a career-high 34 points and 10 assists. Even though this game didn't feature Tyrese Maxey, Paul George or Joel Embiid, McCain still has been producing hugely this year. Wednesday’s game was McCain’s third straight 20-point game.
He is only owned in 44% of fantasy leagues, so he should be available, but he needs to be a top priority on your waiver wire. He saw a +11.02 own increase, so he won't be as attainable moving forward. If you're worried about future production, don’t worry. He will be the lead guard off the bench when Maxey returns, and he has cemented himself in the rotation already.
Though it has been a very small sample size, I wholeheartedly believe that Portland Trailblazers big man Robert Williams III has returned to form. He has not been able to play extended minutes thus far, but he’s flashed his two-way explosiveness in the spurts he has been out there. In his latest game, he posted 19 points and 8 rebounds in 25 minutes of action vs. a very competitive Timberwolves team.
Williams is only owned in 37% of fantasy leagues but saw the biggest own increase of all players at +13.20. I completely understand if you are scared of his very shaky medical history, but as long as he can get on the floor, he will produce. The big-man rotation could become a little murky when Deandre Ayton returns, but I believe either he or Williams will be traded by the end of the year. So either way, Williams will get a chance to show off his potential.
Detriot Pistons guard Malik Beasley will see extended minutes for at least the near future. A couple of days ago, Tim Hardaway Jr. suffered a serious head injury and will at least miss the next couple of games. Beasley is expected to slide into his starting shooting guard spot. The Pistons are a team that desperately needs perimeter shooting, so Beasley will always be valuable for them, no matter his deficiencies on the defensive end.
He finished with his third 20-point game in the last four outings; he also reached his third 30-minute game in the last four outings. Anytime he has seen extended minutes, he has rewarded the Pistons with great production. Beasley should be one of the easiest waiver decisions you have to make; he is only owned in 18% of leagues. He did see a +5.91 own increase, which could make it a little difficult, but he should still be a player who is going to produce right away on your team.
Hornets young big man Moussa Diabate has been the lone bright spot for an injury-riddled frontcourt. His hustle and athleticism likely have made him the main option for the starting center until one of either Mark Williams or Nick Richards comes back.
He finished his last game against the Orlando Magic with 12 points and 15 rebounds in 30 minutes of action. This was his third straight game with double-digit rebounds, and it's an aspect that the Hornets desperately needed from him.
Diabate should be a fairly easy waiver wire target; he is only owned in 11% of fantasy leagues. Many people don't expect him to continue this production, but as long as one of the Hornets big men are injured, he will see playing time. He did see a +5.48 own increase on the waiver wire, so his name is starting to heat up and people are quickly noticing his production.
The last waiver wire target that I would recommend picking up is Utah Jazz forward Kyle Filipowski. Though I do think he is more of a deep league waiver wire target, I think with the extended playing time he's getting, he will only improve.
Since the very unfortunate injury to Taylor Hendricks, Filipowski has been thrust into the starting lineup, and he's shown flashes of the potential that got him selected in the first round. In his latest game he recorded 18 points and six rebounds vs. the Phoenix Suns.
Filipowski is by far the most available on the waiver wire; he currently is only owned in only 8% of fantasy leagues. Filipowski being a starter is going to give him ample opportunities to show off his guard-like versatility. With forward Lauri Markkanen also returning to the lineup, that should serve as another way for Filipowski to open his game up.
