Week 16 FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups: How Much To Spend On Zack Moss, Tyler Allgeier & More!
As we head into the semifinals of the fantasy football playoffs, the waiver wire is still chock-full of potentially league-winning pickups. How much should you spend on that one player you need the most? Let's break it down by position.
Week 16 FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Quarterbacks
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Purdy continues to show confidence in the pocket and an ability to find his receivers downfield. Considering the 49ers have some of the best play calling in the league I feel confident recommending him as someone that you can start in your fantasy playoffs. FAAB: $40-50
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
The Jets are playing on a short week with a Thursday game against the Jaguars and because of that, I figure that Wilson will get another start with Mike White still recovering from a rib injury. The Jaguars have a pretty solid run defense but they are susceptible in their secondary so if the Jets want to win this game it might be through the air. FAAB: $20-30

Running Backs
Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts
Moss came into the game after Jonathan Taylor left with an injury. Taylor will miss the rest of the season so it looks like Moss will have the starting job to himself. There were moments against the Vikings that he looked very confident as a runner and with the Colts playing at home against the Chargers' poor run defense I can see him having an impact in fantasy circles in a crucial week. FAAB: $250-300
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons
I tend to doubt that Allgeier is on the waiver wire but if he is--he is a must-pick-up. The Falcons refuse to throw the football, much preferring to run to protect their mediocre quarterback play. Allgeier looked sensational against New Orleans and all that's holding him back from being one of the top running backs is more of a presence in the Falcons' passing game. FAAB: All-in
Jordan Mason, San Francisco 49ers
Mason is the clear RB2 for the 49ers and looks respectable running the ball as a change-of-pace back. Mason will be used for about 8-10 touches per game and is worth picking up in deeper leagues. FAAB: $100-150
Marlon Mack, Denver Broncos
I am listing Mack mainly because I think their game against the Rams might be a bit of a blowout and if that's the case I can see Mack getting about 10-12 touches. The Broncos used him at the goal line and they've also used him on some shorter passes so there is some upside if you are desperate in deeper leagues. FAAB: $20-40

Wide Receivers
K.J. Osborn, Minnesota Vikings
I highly doubt Osborn is available in your league but he is a must-pick-up at this point. I was listening to Paul Allen, the Vikings radio announcer who feels that Cousins has started to figure out how to throw to his secondary receivers and read his progressions better. This has benefitted Osborn greatly and he has looked very confident running his routes. The Vikings have a tough game at home against the Giants but the Giants have struggled with slot receivers so there is a chance that Osborne could have another good game. FAAB: $300-350
Marquise Goodwin, Seattle Seahawks
One of the sneakier plays of the week, Goodwin will take advantage of the fact that Tyler Lockett will be out with a finger injury. Seattle plays Kansas City who has struggled covering wide receivers and I think this may be the highest-scoring game total of the week. Goodwin might be the under-the-radar play that gets you to the title game. FAAB: $80-100
Rashid Shaheed, New Orleans Saints
Shaheed has evolved into the WR2 right now down in the Bayou. He is their deep threat and I can see him having some success against Cleveland on the road. FAAB: $150-160
Elijah Moore, New York Jets
Moore was the Jets’ second-most-targeted receiver against the Lions and I am hopeful that he can continue to build his connection with Zach Wilson. Look for him to get another 10-14 fantasy points on Thursday night. FAAB: $80-100
Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
Williams finally scored his first TD of his career against Minnesota. It won’t be his last. Jared Goff almost found him on a deep pattern against the Jets, underthrowing what would have been a long TD pass. Williams has a great matchup in Week 17 against Chicago so keep him on your fantasy radar. FAAB: $100-120
Tight Ends
Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans
The more I watch Okonkwo play the more impressed I am. A fourth-round pick out of Maryland, he has good speed and is improving each week. The team made a concerted effort to get him the ball against Jacksonville and Los Angeles and that should continue so long as Treylon Burks remains sidelined. FAAB: $80-100
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
Johnson has turned into Andy Dalton's favorite receiver in the red zone. Although he can be highly inconsistent, there are some weeks where he can catch multiple touchdown passes (like he did in Week 15) which places him high on our fantasy radar. FAAB: $80-100
