2023 Fantasy Football 12-Team PPR Mock Draft: 12th Pick Strategy

Dr. Roto Aug 25th 1:32 PM EDT.

I did a mock draft from the 12 slot to see how I would fare. I also tried to wait a little longer at QB hoping I could find value. Here is the link to the mock draft, where you can check out my full team and draft grade.

12th Pick PPR Mock Draft Analysis

Round 1 (1.12): WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions

I have seen him go as high as fifth overall. His injury has dropped him some, but I am still a huge fan.

Round 2 (2.01): RB Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Chubb might set a career-best in receptions this season with Kareem Hunt gone. His backup Jerome Ford is still not 100% healthy.

Round 3 (3.12): RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions

I like Gibbs way more in PPR leagues than in standard or Half-PPR. He has tons of upside.

Round 4 (4.01): WR Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

I know he’s getting on in age, but I love the offense and still think he’s a 15-PPG player.

Round 5 (5.12): TE Darren Waller, New York Giants

I think he’s a lock to be an early-fifth-round pick at this point, maybe even sneaking into the fourth round by Labor Day.

Round 6 (6.01): RB Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings

I’m not sure why Mattison is still undervalued. He’s a three-down back on an explosive offensive team.

Round 7 (7.12): WR Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders

I will take Dotson here in every draft. He’s ready to burst with Terry McLaurin dealing with turf toe.

Round 8 (8.01): RB David Montgomery, Detroit Lions

I probably should have passed here since I didn’t need another Lion, but I think the 10-TD upside is real.

Round 9 (9.12): QB Daniel Jones, New York Giants

If I miss out on the top eight QBs, Jones is becoming my next favorite on the board. He’s more comfortable in Brian Daboll’s offense and his weapons have improved.

Round 10 (10.01): WR Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens

Please don’t look at this selection and think this is where Flowers will go in your draft. ADP has not caught up to real life just yet. He’s going in Round 7 of all my high-stakes leagues.

Round 11 (11.12): TE Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

I love him as my TE backup. He has great hands, is in a good offense, and is a good young player.

Round 12 (12.01): WR Jalin Hyatt, New York Giants

It might take him a few weeks, but I think he will assert himself as the Giants' top deep threat by Week 8.

Round 13 (13.12): QB Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

I have been preaching waiting on QB, and values like this are why. If you can pair Jones with Geno, you can play the weekly matchups and likely have a ton of success.

Round 14 (14.01): New England Patriots Defense

The Patriots should be a top-three defense again.

Round 15 (15.12): WR Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs

He’s better than Hyatt as a player, but Kansas City has a very deep depth chart and he’s going to need to find a way to get regular snaps.

Round 16 (16.01): K Tyler Bass, Buffalo Bills

I hate the fact that the weather can get messy in Buffalo, but he’s been consistent and plays on a great offense.

Final Pick 12 Mock Draft Analysis

I need to re-iterate this to EVERYONE: NEVER draft without your draft board open or available to you!!  This is the type of team that could WIN a Best Ball format. All I would have needed to do is to draft QB Jared Goff and I would have had a perfect Lions stack. As it was, this still qualifies for a decent Best Ball stack as I have Daniel Jones, Darren Waller, and Jalin Hyatt from the Giants. Picking back-to-back didn't hurt my team at all and I'm happy with how it turned out.
