After taking a look at how waiver wire hitting options performed on Opening Day, let's now look at how pitchers fared.

Yankees 4, Brewers 2

Carlos Rodon started for New York, earning the win after working 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven, while allowing one run on four hits and two walks.

Tim Hill, Mark Leiter Jr. and Luke Weaver earned holds before Devin Williams got the save. Williams allowed a run on one walk and two hits, but struck out two to escape the jam.

Freddy Peralta took a tough loss on the mound after working five innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and one walk, while punching out eight.

Reliever Jared Koenig allowed the other two runs.

Orioles 12, Blue Jays 2

Zach Eflin got the win for Baltimore after working six innings. He gave up two runs on two hits and one walk, while striking out two.

Jose Berrios was rocked for six runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five and took the loss.

Phillies 7, Nationals 3 (10 inn.)

Zack Wheeler started for Philly, striking out eight over six innings. He gave up a run on two hits and two walks.

Orion Kerkering earned a hold before Jordan Romano blew the save. Jose Alvarado ended up getting the win after striking out a pair in a scoreless frame.

MacKenzie Gore struck out 13 batters over six nearly perfect innings. He allowed no runs, while giving up one hit and no walks.

Lucas Sims was charged with a blown save. Colin Poche took the loss eventually.

Red Sox 5, Rangers 2

Garrett Crochet got the Opening Day nod for Boston, working the first five frames. He allowed two runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Aroldis Chapman earned the win after working a scoreless inning, and then Justin Slaten got the save in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Nathan Eovaldi struck out nine over his six innings. He gave up two runs on three hits and no walks.

Luke Jackson took the loss after allowing three runs in 1/3 of an inning.

Marlins 5, Pirates 4

Sandy Alcantara tossed the first 4 2/3 innings for Miami, giving up two runs on two hits and four walks. He struck out seven batters.

Jesus Tinoco got the win after working a scoreless inning.

Paul Skenes struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings for Pittsburgh. He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks.

Dennis Santana, Ryan Borucki and Caleb Ferguson earned holds before Colin Holderman blew the save. David Bednar took the loss.

Giants 6, Reds 4

Logan Webb worked the first five innings for San Francisco. He allowed three runs on six hits and three walks, while punching out five.

Tyler Rogers eventually picked up the win, and Ryan Walker earned the save, despite allowing a run.

Hunter Greene struck out eight over his five innings for Cincy. He allowed two runs on three hits and one walk.

Scott Barlow, Emilio Pagan and Tony Santillan earned holds before Ian Gibaut blew the save and took the loss.

White Sox 8, Angels 1

Sean Burke tossed six scoreless innings and got the win for Chicago. He allowed three hits, while striking out three and walking none.

Penn Murfee, Jordan Leasure and Mike Clevinger earned holds before Chicago ran away with the lead.

Yusei Kikuchi took the loss after giving up three runs on five hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out five batters.

Ryan Johnson gave up the final five runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Guardians 7, Royals 4 (10 inn.)

Ben Lively started and worked the first five innings for Cleveland. He allowed three runs on four hits and no walks, while striking out three.

Cade Smith, Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis all earned holds for the Guardians. Emmanuel Clase blew the save, but also got the win. Paul Sewald ended up earning the save.

Cole Ragans gave up three runs on five hits and two walks over his five innings for KC. He struck out three batters.

Angel Zerpa pitched next and was tagged with a blown save. Sam Long eventually took the loss.

Astros 3, Mets 1

Framber Valdez earned the win after tossing seven scoreless innings for Houston. He allowed four hits and walked two, while striking out four.

Bryan Abreu got the hold before Josh Hader claimed the save. Hader allowed a run on two hits and a walk, but struck out two batters as well.

Clay Holmes took the loss after pitching the first 4 2/3 innings for New York. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks. He struck out four.

Padres 7, Braves 4

Michael King lasted just 2 2/3 innings for San Diego. He gave up three runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out three.

Wandy Peralta ended up getting the win. Jason Adam earned a hold before Robert Suarez claimed his first save.

Chris Sale started for Atlanta and worked five innings. He allowed three runs on six hits and a walk, while striking out seven.

Dylan Lee earned a hold before Hector Neris blew the save and took the loss.

Cardinals 5, Twins 3

Sonny Gray earned the win for St. Louis after pitching five innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out six.

Kyle Leahy, John King, Chris Roycroft and Phil Maton earned holds before Ryan Helsley locked down the save.

Pablo Lopez took the loss for the Twins after working five innings. He gave up four runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks. Lopez struck out three.

Dodgers 5, Tigers 4

Blake Snell started for LA and worked five innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and four walks, while punching out two.

Ben Casparius, Alex Vesia and Tanner Scott earned saves before Blake Treinen got the save.

Tarik Skubal took the loss after giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. He punched out just two.

Cubs 10, Diamondbacks 6

Justin Steele picked up the win after working five innings. He allowed three runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out two.

Caleb Thielbar and Porter Hodge earned holds for the Cubs.

Zac Gallen took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He also struck out four batters.

Mariners 4, Athletics 2

Logan Gilbert started for Seattle, punching out eight over seven frames. He gave up a run on two hits and no walks.

Trent Thornton got the win despite allowing a run in an inning of work. Andres Munoz claimed the save.

Luis Severino tossed six scoreless innings for the Athletics. He allowed four walks and three hits, while punching out six.

Tyler Ferguson was charged with a blown save, as was Jose Leclerc, who also took the loss.

Top Waiver Wire Options

Cincinnati's Santillan is the top waiver wire option at the time of publication. He's up 9.14% today.

Athletics' Severino is up 6.59%, while teammate Jeffrey Springs is up 5.61%. Baltimore's Charlie Morton got a 5.77% bump today.

LA Angels' Jose Soriano is up 5.09% today, while Texas' Jack Leiter got a 5.09% boost. Pittsburgh's Mitch Keller is up 4.81% today.

Boston's Slaten is up 3.76% after claiming his save. Miami's Max Meyer was added in 3.32% of leagues.

Chicago White Sox' Burke is up 2.89%, as is Texas' Jackson despite him blowing a save. LA Dodgers' Treinen is up 2.82% today.

Atlanta's AJ Smith-Shawver is up 2.79% today so far. Cleveland's Shane Bieber was added in 2.73% of leagues.

Chicago Cubs' Jameson Taillon is up 2.6% today, while Kansas City's Kris Bubic is up another 2.54%.

Arizona's Merrill Kelly was added in 2.5% of leagues. Detroit's Casey Mize got a 2.45% bump up, while New York Mets' Tylor Megill is up 2.37%.

Philadelphia's Alvarado is up 2.32% after his good showing on Opening Day.
