Top Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters After Opening Day: Wilyer Abreu, Kyle Manzardo, Spencer Torkelson, Joey Ortiz and More

The first nearly full day of the MLB season is now in the books. It's time to look at some of the top performances from waiver wire options, something we will do most days throughout the season.
We'll break things down into two stories (hitters and pitchers), beginning with hitters here. We'll use fantasy scoring from ESPN. We'll cap the story by looking at the top waiver wire options among hitters.

Yankees 4, Brewers 2
Austin Wells was the top New York fantasy hitter on Opening Day, while Anthony Volpe also scored more than two points.
Wells and Volpe each hit a solo home run. Wells also walked once, while each player struck out as well.
Vinny Capra and Joey Ortiz were the only Milwaukee hitters over two fantasy points.
Capra hit a solo homer for the Brewers. Ortiz had two hits, totaling two total bases - he also scored once.
Orioles 12, Blue Jays 2
Cedric Mullins and Tyler O'Neill helped Baltimore on Opening Day.
Mullins hit two homers (a three-run shot and solo blast). O'Neill hit a three-run homer among his three hits - he also walked twice and scored three runs total.
Andres Gimenez was the only Toronto hitter over two fantasy points. Gimenez hit a two-run homer and walked once.
Phillies 7, Nationals 3 (10 inn.)
Max Kepler was the only waiver wire hitter with more than two fantasy points for Philly. He had a hit, two walks and a run scored to offset two punchouts.
Keibert Ruiz, Luis Garcia Jr. and Dylan Crews led the Washington hitters from a fantasy perspective. Ruiz hit a solo homer among his two hits. Garcia had two hits, a walk and an RBI, along with a strikeout. Crews had a walk, stolen base and run scored.
Red Sox 5, Rangers 2
Wilyer Abreu was the only Boston fantasy hitter over one point. He hit two home runs (a three-run shot and solo blast) among his three hits. He also walked once and scored a third run.
Kevin Pillar and Kyle Higashioka led Texas from a fantasy perspective. Pillar drove in a run on two hits and also scored once. Higashioka drove in a run on a double.
Marlins 5, Pirates 4
Derek Hill, Xavier Edwards, Otto Lopez and Kyle Stowers had three or more fantasy points for Miami.
Hill doubled, walked and scored a run. Edwards had two walks, an RBI, a run scored and one strikeout. Lopez drove in a run on a hit and walk, scored a run and struck out once, while Stowers drove in a run on a hit and two walks, while also scoring and striking out once.
Nick Gonzales, Ke'Bryan Hayes and Isiah Kiner-Falefa helped lead Pittsburgh at the plate.
Gonzalez hit a two-run homer before leaving with an injury. Hayes had a hit and run scored, two stolen bases and a strikeout. Kiner-Falefa had two walks, a run scored, a stolen base and a strikeout.
Giants 6, Reds 4
Wilmer Flores and Heliot Ramos led San Fran at the plate. Flores hit a three-run homer, while Ramos had a two-run shot.
Jeimer Candelario, TJ Friedl and Christian Encarnacion-Strand led Cincinnati.
Candelario drove in three runs on two hits and a walk, while striking out once. Friedl drove in a run on two hits, scored a run and struck out once, while Encarnacion-Strand had a double among his two knocks.
White Sox 8, Angels 1
Lenyn Sosa, Andrew Benintendi, Austin Slater and Miguel Vargas all had over two fantasy points for Chicago.
Sosa hit a two-run homer, while Benintendi had a three-run shot and two strikeouts. Slater hit a solo blast, while Vargas drove in two runs on two hits, scored once and also struck out once.
Logan O'Hoppe was the only LA hitter over two fantasy points. The catcher had a solo homer among his two hits, along with a strikeout.
Guardians 7, Royals 4 (10 inn.)
Kyle Manzardo and Carlos Santana were the top Cleveland fantasy hitters. Manzardo hit a two-run homer, triple and double, walked and struck out once, drove in four runs total and scored twice. Santana had a hit, walk, two runs scored and a punchout.
Vinnie Pasquantino powered Kansas City, but he's already owned in nearly every league.
Astros 3, Mets 1
Jake Meyers was the only waiver wire option over two fantasy points for Houston. He drove in a run on two hits.
Pete Alonso was the only Met over two fantasy points, but he's of course owned in all leagues already.
Padres 7, Braves 4
Gavin Sheets is a waiver option who delivered good totals for San Diego. He had a solo homer in his lone plate appearance.
All of the top Atlanta fantasy performances came from players already owned in all leagues.
Cardinals 5, Twins 3
Lars Nootbaar, Nolan Arenado, Ivan Herrera, Jordan Walker and Brendan Donovan all had nice fantasy nights.
Nootbaar hit a two-run homer among his two hits, and scored two runs total. Arenado had a solo homer among his two knocks, while Herrera had two hits, a walk and a RBI. Walker had a hit, walk and run scored, while Donovan added two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while striking out once.
Harrison Bader and Trevor Larnach led Minnesota. Bader hit a two-run homer among his two knocks. Larnach had two hits, a walk, a run scored and a punchout.
Dodgers 5, Tigers 4
Tommy Edman is a waiver wire option from LA who delivered on Thursday. He had a solo homer and punchout.
Spencer Torkelson, Zach McKinstry and Gleyber Torres led Detroit. Torkelson hit a solo homer, walked four times and scored two runs total. McKinstry had a hit, walk and run scored, while Torres posted two hits, stole a base and scored a run.
Cubs 10, Diamondbacks 6
Miguel Amaya, Nico Hoerner, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Matt Shaw and Michael Busch all had productive fantasy nights for Chicago.
Amaya hit two doubles, drove in five runs and struck out once. Hoerner drove in a run on two hits and a walk, while also scoring once. Crow-Armstrong had a hit, walk, stolen base and two runs scored.
Shaw had a hit, walk, three runs scored and one punchout. Busch added two hits, a walk and a run scored, while striking out once.
Eugenio Suarez, Gabriel Moreno and Geraldo Perdomo were all over two fantasy points for Arizona.
Suarez hit a solo homer, scored a second run and struck out twice. Moreno had two hits, a walk and two runs scored, while Perdomo drove in a pair on a hit.
Mariners 4, Athletics 2
Jorge Polanco, Randy Arozarena and Ryan Bliss were the top Seattle fantasy hitters.
Polanco hit a two-run homer among his three hits, while Arozarena added a solo homer and a walk, while also striking out once. Bliss walked twice and stole a base.
Tyler Soderstrom was the only Athletic over one fantasy point. He hit two homers (both solo shots) and also struck out once.
Top Waiver Wire Options
As of the time of publication, Boston's Abreu is the top waiver wire option among hitters. He's up 5.49%.
Cleveland's Manzardo is up 5.15% after his big day at the plate. Detroit's Torkelson is up 4.45% after his strong outing.
Milwaukee's Ortiz is up 3.47% today. Houston's Cam Smith is still on the rise after making the team's roster out of spring training - he's up 2.32%.
Cincinnati's Gavin Lux and Candelario round out the list. Lux is up 2.31%, while Candelario got a 2.29% boost.
