Week 5 Fantasy Football Streaming Options: Jaleel McLaughlin, Michael Wilson, and More!
While we're still a few weeks away from bye weeks, everyone has at least one hole in their fantasy football roster due to injuries (maybe you drafted Nick Chubb), underperformance (Joe Burrow, anyone?), or just bad drafting (not you, of course). However, holes can be filled and there are almost always good streaming options. It’s just a matter of finding them.
I'll be here every week trying to unearth the best streaming options that you can likely find on waivers and plug into your starting lineup for that week. There are some good ones out there for Week 5, so let's dig in!

Quarterback
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Love is currently QB4 on the year so I'm not sure we can call him a streamer, but let's go with it. While Love has had moments where he's looked a little wild this season, he's also put up really good overall numbers and has finished as a top-12 quarterback in three of four weeks. With an upcoming matchup against a Raiders defense that has looked absolutely awful this season, Love has a very good chance at once again finishing as a top-12 quarterback this week with all the bye weeks around the league.
Zach Wilson, New York Jets
This one is not for the faint of heart. There's at least a 50 percent chance Wilson reverts back to the Zach Wilson we've seen for the last two-plus seasons as opposd to the one who looked halfway competent against the Chiefs last week. But there's also at least some chance we get halfway competent Zach Wilson against a Broncos defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone this season. Again, we're talking desperation bye week play here, but it's not as crazy as it would have sounded two weeks ago.
Running Back
Jaleel McLaughlin, Denver Broncos
The NCAA's all-time rushing leader looked good in relief of Javonte Williams last week, and it looks like Williams will miss this week's game against the Jets. While the Jets have a great defense, we've also seen teams have success running the ball against them. McLaughlin will likely cede some carries to Samaje Perine, but he turned 10 touches into 104 yards last week so he's able to do some damage with limited opportunities.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
Hubbard saw over 50 percent of the Panthers' offensive snaps last week as Miles Sanders was dealing with a groin injury. While Hubbard only averaged 2.9 yards per carry, he could again see an increased workload this weekend as Sanders has been limited in practice all week. The matchup against the Lions isn't fantastic, but Hubbard is an auto-start if Sanders misses the game. And Chuba is still a good start if Sanders plays as his limited practice participation will likely translate to a limited workload (and an increased workload for Hubbard).
Wide Receiver
Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have exceeded all preseason expectations, and there have been some pleasant fantasy surprises that have come as part of that. With Joshua Dobbs looking like a more-than-capable starter, Wilson has put up more than 50 receiving yards in each of his last three games -- and more than 75 receiving yards in each of his last two games. I don't think we can bank on two touchdowns like Wilson put up last week, but he's most definitely a worthy flex start if you're looking for a bye week fill-in.
Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions
Reynolds has put up a quietly decent season thus far with more than 65 receiving yards in all three games he's played. With Amon-Ra St. Brown missing multiple days of practice this week, there's also a chance Reynolds could slot into the Lions' WR1 role this week. There are a lot of mouths to feed in Detroit, but Reynolds is a great play if St. Brown sits. And he's still a really good play even if ARSB plays as he's finished as WR36 or better in all three of his games this year.
Tight End
Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons
I'm not sure what's going on in Atlanta, but Jonnu Smith has been infinitely more productive than Kyle Pitts this season. He led the Falcons in receiving yards last week and put up six catches on six targets for 95 yards. That's three straight games of six or more targets for Smith, and there's really no reason to believe he'll fall off a cliff as the Falcons seem to have found something they like with him. I wouldn't be shocked if he once again outproduces Pitts this week.
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
The Patriots offense is a mess. Their receivers can't get separation. Their offensive line can't block anyone. And Mac Jones looks like he's regressing. However, Henry is the one constant in that offense as he's seen at least five targets in all four of his games this season and will continue to see plenty of looks from Jones. The Saints are a bad matchup for tight ends, but Henry is a solid streamer in that you know he'll see at least five or six targets while likely seeing a look or two in the red zone.
Alright, my friends. That’ll do it for this week.
I wish you all the best of luck in Week 5, and I’ll see you back here next week to see if we can find some hidden gems for Week 6!
