Week 9 Fantasy Football Streaming Options: Devin Singletary, Khalil Shakir, Cade Otton, and More!
Everyone has at least one hole in their fantasy football roster due to injuries (maybe you drafted Justin Jefferson), underperformance (Aaron Jones, anyone?), or just bad drafting (not you, of course). However, holes can be filled and there are almost always good streaming options. It’s just a matter of finding them.
With six teams on byes this week, streaming is going to be even more important this week! I'll be here every week trying to unearth the best streaming options that you can likely find on waivers and plug into your starting lineup for that week. There are some good ones out there for Week 9, so let's dig in!

Quarterback
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
While it hasn't looked pretty, Carr has finished as QB15, QB10, QB9, and QB13 over the past four weeks. With an absolute dearth of good quarterback options this week, Carr should be able to finish as a top-10 quarterback with a nice matchup against a bad Bears defense. While I'll never fully trust Carr, he's a really good streaming option this week.
Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts
Similarly with Carr, it's hard to trust Minshew as he doesn't have a ton of upside (or weapons). However, with guys like Aiden O'Connell, Jaren Hall, Tyson Bagent, and Clayton Tune starting this week -- Minshew looks like a pretty appealing option. The Panthers defense can be tough, but they aren't scary to a point where they should make us shy away from Minshew this weekend. I don't think he'll push the top-10 for Week 9, but I think he'll be in the QB12-15 range.
Running Back
Devin Singletary, Houston Texans
Dameon Pierce didn't practice on Friday, so there's a good chance Singletary will assume lead-back duties for the Texans against the Buccaneers. Mike Boone could cut into Singletary's touches in that scenario, but the veteran should theoretically lead the way if Pierce sits. If Pierce does play, Singletary is obviously less attractive of an option, but he still saw 12 touches playing behind Pierce last week and would still be a solid streaming play.
Royce Freeman, Los Angeles Rams
Freeman? Darrell Henderson? I'm not sure, honestly, but Freeman outsnapped Henderson last week so he should at least be on our radar. While the journeyman's upside is limited as he doesn't do anything in the passing game, he's positioned to be a top-30 option at running back against the Packers this week. He should see 10-12 carries and at least has some flex value.
Wide Receiver
Demario Douglas, New England Patriots
Douglas was on this list last week and put up five receptions for 25 yards. While the yardage outpout was a little underwhelming, the rookie's seven targets were promising, and it's also worth noting he saw just over a fifth of Mac Jones' targets -- and that might get higher this week with Kendrick Bourne out and DeVante Parker questionable. There's obvious risk here (he's a streamer!), but Douglas has WR2 upside against a shaky Commanders pass defense.
Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills
I might be chasing Shakir's performance last week (six catches for 92 yards on six targest), but I think it's a performance worth chasing as the Bills take on a Bengals defense that hasn't been great against slot receivers. I like Douglas a bit more than Shakir as he has an easier path to targets, but on that same token, Shakir has a more recent "prove it" performance than Douglas.
Tight End
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tight end (as it usually is) is gross this week, so Otton gets himself onto the streaming radar by default. While he doesn't have a ton of upside (he's scored just once all season and hasn't put up more than 43 receiving yards in a game), Otton has seen six targets in each of his last two games and gets to face a Texans defense that has struggled against tight ends.
Michael Mayer, Oakland Raiders
This is a total dart throw, but anyone after the top tier of tight ends is more or less a dart throw anyway. While Mayer has only caught three total balls for 32 yards over his last two games, I like the idea (dream?) of a new head coach coming in after Josh McDaniels' firing and using the Raiders' talented rookie tight end more. Mayer should also benefit from Aiden O'Connell starting this week as a tight end safety valve is always a young quarterback's best friend.
I wish you all the best of luck in Week 9, and I’ll see you back here next week to see if we can find some hidden gems for Week 10!
